RESEARCH NOTE: her daughter Dolores Housh McLaughlin wrote this letter to source #1 dated 19 February 2007: Mother and my Dad met in Omaha.  Mom was working in an office and Dad was a broker there.  At some point they moved to Persia, Iowa.  He was in the Navy (Sea-Bees) during WW2.  He later ran a Feed Store there.  While he was in the service, mom drove a grain truck from the farms to the grain elevators and she also raised chickens for market and worked in a bomber plant in Omaha.  I do not have any dates to give you but I do remember these things as a small child.
After divorcing Kermit Edwin House, Mary Evelyn Thomas House and her daughter, Dolores moved to Independence Missouri.  When we moved to Independence she went to work for Hilltop School for Girls (a place for girls that had been taken out of their homes for various reasons).  She later went to work at Katz Drug Store where I think she sold vitamins for a pharmaceutical company.  It was during this time she met Roy Fike.  Mom was born and raised in the RLDS Church and remained steadfast all of her life.  Sometime after she and Roy were married he also joined the church.  Sometime after they made their home in Climax Springs they and 2 or 3 other couples were instrumental in starting a congregation there and eventually the church listed it as a Mission.   The doors were closed by the church a few years before she passed away and she was heartbroken.
