Wednesday, November 10, 1954
Mrs. William C. Stice, 78, a resident of the Kenmare community since 1901,
passed away at the Deaconess hospital about 11 p.m., Saturday evening, following
a heart attack earlier in the day. Her passing marked the third death in the
immediate family in the past eight months. A son Wilson, died at Bismarck, March
2, and a daughter, Mrs Lawrence Kelley succumbed at Eldora, Iowa on March 30.
She is also predeceased by three sons in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Lola Duke
who succumbed in 1927.  The former Ada Hyde was forn December 22, 1875, at
Cedar, Iosa and her marriage to Mr. Stice was solemnized at Hynes, Iowa, May 16,
1897. They moved from Avery, Iowa in 1900, when Mr. Stice filed on a homestead
in Kenmare Township, five miles east of Kenmare. In 1906, they moved into
Kenmare to reside and Mr. Stice was employed as a carpenter and mason until his
retirement a few years ago. Surviving in addition to her husband are two
daughters, Mrs James Manley of Bothell, Wash., and Mrs. Robert Abernathy of
Everett, Wash. Mrs. Abernathy arrived Monday evening and Mrs. Manley on Tuesday
evening. She is survived by siblings (these are listed in the obit)  funeral
services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Methodist Church in Kenmare with
Rev. ray Harris of Minot, Pastor of the Church of the Brethern, officiating.
Interment will be made in Rosehill Cemetery.
He was a plaster man and did interior work in houses. They belonged to the
"Dunkard Church"  Church of the Brethren (AKA: German Baptist). Records for
their family can be obtained by contacting their church headquarters.
