Elizabeth Jeanette Simmons
Elizabeth Jeanette Simmons, daughter of Daniel and Margaret Herron Simmons was born November 8, 1881, near Ash Grove, in Davis County, Iowa and passed away at her home in Bloomfield, Iowa, October 12,1956, at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 4 days. Her illness extended over a number of years in which time she was tenderly cared for by her daughter Breesia, and son-in-law, Robert Cox, whom she loved as a son.
She was united in marriage to John Legg, July 4, 1899, at Fairbury, Nebraska. One daughter Breesia, was born to this union on October 7, 1902.
Surviving her passing are her daughter Breesia Cos, three brothers, John and Austin Simmons of Bloomfield and Jack simmons of Ottumwa and a sister, Mrs. Charlotte Fitzgerald of Bloomfield. Other suvivors are three grandchildren, Darrell Loney of Cedar Rapids, Idhona Whisler of Ottumwa and Deo Loney of Bloomfield; six great-grandchildren, Darrell II and Marcia Loney and Randy, Rickey and Rodney Whisler and Larry Lee Loney and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, Jane, Annie and Cora and two brothers, Tom and Jim and one great-granddaughter Brenda Lee Loney.
Mrs. Legg united her church membership with the Cottage Grove church at Humboldt, Nebraska and later having it transferred to the Drakesville, Iowa Christian church, where it remained until her death.
Services were conducted at the Wagler Funeral Home Tuesday, October 16, by Rev. John Damon. Burial was in the I. O. O. F. cemetery.
