Occupation Churchwarden During 1684 [236]
Misc. Notes
Margaret Slade wrote: "William, husband of Margaret, was I think the son of William Tunstall and Ann Morton who married on 11 May 1680 at Wolstanton. Their first child was an Ann who was baptised on 15 August 1683 but who was buried on 17 September 1684. William was a churchwarden during 1684. His son William was baptised on 16 September 1685 but two years later Ann wife of William Tunstall was buried." [236]
"There are several early mentions of the family in the Wolstanton register. In 1631 a William Tunstall was a churchwarden from ?Field Hill. In 1673 William, the father of William who married Margaret, was an overseer of the poor for Yeldhill. In 1678 and 1679 a Richard Tunstall was an overseer of the poor for Wedgwood House. In 1634 a Rand(olph) Tunstall, Cleark, was buried. Although he was a cleric he was not in the list of vicars for Wolstanton, but his profession is an indication of the status of the family." [236]
