BURBANK - Richey Lee “Zeke” Swartz Jr., 56, of Burbank, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at his home, following a period of declining health.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with the Rev. Anthony Perry officiating. Burial will be at Burbank Cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

He was born July 22, 1947, in Lodi to Richey L. and Frances (Packard) Swartz.

He was a 1965 graduate of Norwayne High School and served in the U.S. Army as a Drill Sergeant at Fort Ord, Monterey, Calif., from 1966-1968.

He was a retired electrician from Timken in Wooster, following 30 years of service.

He attended Burbank United Brethren Church as a child and youth, where he married Patricia Kline on Dec. 18. 1966.

He was a member of Creston Moose Lodge 1224 and was a former member of Burbank Fire Department.

He had made his home in the Burbank area all his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and whitewater rafting. He did hog roasts upon request and was always ready and willing to give a helping hand where needed.

Surviving are children, Cortney (Larry) Fairbanks of Columbus, Jennifer Glancy of West Salem and Paul (Lisa) Swartz of Wooster; grandchildren, Emily, Blair, Kayla and Noah; mother of his children, Patty of West Salem; his parents, Richey and Frances Swartz of Burbank; a brother, Dan (Kris) Swartz of West Salem; sisters, Bonnie (Bob) Rogal of Newcomerstown; Mary (Frederic) Schwartz and Betty Swartz, both of Burbank; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
