WEST SALEM - Lester E. Clason, 83, of West Salem, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at his home.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with Pastor Robert Holmes officiating. Burial will be at Congress Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by James Stevenson American Legion Post 499 of West Salem.

Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born Oct. 22, 1921, in Wayne County, to James and Ethel (DeLong) Clason and married Martha Gibson on May 10, 1963. She survives.

He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a corporal and for 42 years worked at the Packaging Corporation of America in Rittman.

He was a member of James Stevenson American Legion Post 499 of West Salem.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are sons, Homer (Iona) Clason of West Salem and Steve (Jennifer) Clason of Louisiana; three grandchildren; brothers, Robert and Chester Clason, both of Wooster; and sisters, Donna Marks of Wooster and Phyllis Webb of Rittman.

A daughter, Connie Sue Clason, his parents, brothers, George, James and Paul Clason and a sister, Naomi McKee, died previously.
