WEST SALEM -- James L. Grube, 60, of West Salem, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at Hospice of North Central Ohio in Ashland, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be Thursday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with Pastor Christopher Cottrel officiating. Burial will be at Congress Cemetery, West Salem, where military rites will be conducted by James Stevenson American Post 499 of West Salem.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland 44805.

James was born Nov. 25, 1946, in Lodi, the son of Robert and Marjean (Ruff) Grube and had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Police Action from 1968-74.

He had been employed by Fuhrman's Ford in West Salem from 1970-79, Turek Miller Ford in Lodi from 1979-91 and Ashland Tractor Sales from 1991-2006.

He was an EMT on the Town & Country Rescue Squad in West Salem for 10 years.

Surviving are children, Ryan (Laurie) Grube of West Milton, Matt (Jamie) Grube of Niles and Kelly Grube of West Salem; grandchildren, Katie, Emma, Jacob and Marcus Grube and Taylor Brezina; a sister, Nancy Mowrer of Wooster; and brothers, David (Becky) Grube of Wooster and Thomas (Patricia) Grube of West Salem.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Randy Mowrer.
