Descendants of Charles Bateman and Martha Ellis of Rathclaren Parish, County Cork, Ireland

Fourth Generation

(Continued)

119. Martha Bateman (Charles , John , Charles ) was born 1 on 13 Nov 1845 in County Cork, Ireland. She was christened 2 on 30 Nov 1845 in Rathclaren Parish, County Cork, Ireland. She died on 8 Mar 1916 in Salmon Beach, Gloucester County, New Brunswick. She was buried in United Church Cem, East Bathurst, New Brunswick.

Baptism sponsors were: Eliza S. Waggett, Sidney Howe and John Tresilian. Martha was listed as 15 in 1861 Gloucester County, New Brunswick Census (Bathurst South, p.27) and 21 in 1871 (Bathurst Dist. 3, p.3 in 1871). Martha's tombstone indicates that she was 69 at the time she died in March 1916.

Martha married 2 Edward Edmund Ellis 1 on 8 Oct 1873 in St George's Anglican Church, Bathurst, New Brunswick. Edward was born about 1839. He died on 25 Nov 1918 in Salmon Beach, Gloucester County, New Brunswick. He was buried in United Cemetery, East Bathurst, Gloucester County, New Brunswick.

Name recorded as Edmond E. in some marriage record--Edward in some sources.

They had the following children:

477 F i Anne Ellis 1 was born in 1883 in Gloucester County, New Brunswick. She died in 1960 in Gloucester County, New Brunswick.

In cemetery is buried under name "Anne Ellis Doncaster."
Anne married (1) William Ellis 1. William was born in 1843. He died in 1922 in Gloucester County, New Brunswick.
        Anne married (2) C. Doncaster 1 after 1922.
478 F ii Susan Ellis 1 was born about 1885 in Gloucester County, New Brunswick.
Susan married 2 Abel Ellis 1 about 1906 in Salmon Beach, Gloucester County, New Brunswick.

Abel is brother of Elizabeth Ellis, wife of John Bateman Smyth.
479 M iii Edmond Ellis 1 was born about 1887 in Gloucester County, New Brunswick.

Unmarried.

121. John C. Bateman (Charles , John , Charles ) was born 1 in 1854 in Salmon Beach, Gloucester County, New Brunswick. He died 2 on 10 Mar 1943 in Gloucester County, New Brunswick. He was buried 3 in St. Alban's Cemetery, Bathurst, Gloucester County.

Tombstone indicates that John was born in 1852, but the 1861 census gives his age as 7 years old. John lived in Salmon Beach, New Brunswick. John's name is also recorded on the family tombstone in St. Alban's Anglican Cemetery in Bathurst, so I am uncertain as to which is correct.

John married 1, 2 Rebecca Caroline Bateman daughter of William John Bateman and Ann Jennings on 30 Jun 1879 in St. George's Anglican Church, Bathurst, New Brunswick. Rebecca was born 3, 4 on 28 Nov 1858 in Gloucester Twp, New Brunswick. She died 5 on 28 Feb 1922 in Salmon Beach, New Brunswick. She was buried 6 in St Albans Anglican Cemetery, Bathurst, New Brunswick.

They had the following children:

Never married. The 1901 census has his birth date recorded as March 13, 1889, and his age as 21; in 1991 birth recorded was Mar 1881. The 1881 index gives his age as 1. Cannot find record in online PANB records to clarify if 13th or 30th of March.
481 M ii Arthur Bateman was born 1 on 21 Oct 1883 in Salmon Beach, Gloucester County, New Brunswick. He was christened 2 on 9 Nov 1883 in St. George's Anglican Church, Bathurst, New Brunswick. He died in 1969 in New Brunswick. He was buried 3 in St Albans Anglican Cemetery, Bathurst, New Brunswick.

Arthur Bateman was Patricia Turner's original source of the Bateman family data. He reported the genealogy of this family in 1963. Arthur never married. Baptism record gave birth date of 21 October; IGI has 22 October. The 1911 census reports a birth date of Octobeer 1882.
482 F iii Martha Bateman was born 1, 2 on 15 Nov 1887 in Gloucester County, New Brunswick. She died in 1958 in Gloucester County, New Brunswick. She was buried 3 in St Albans Anglican Cemetery, Bathurst, New Brunswick.

Never married. Martha was living with her parents at the time of her mother's death in 1922. Cemetery transcript apparently indicates born 1883--assumed to be an error.
483 M iv Robert E. Bateman 1 was born 2 on 17 Sep 1889 in Gloucester County, New Brunswick. He died in 1984. He was buried 3 in St Albans Anglican Cemetery, Bathurst, New Brunswick.

At the time of his marriage Chester was a resident of Dunlop, Gloucester County

130. George Smyth 1, 2 (Dora Bateman , John , Charles ) was born on 15 Jul 1852 in Hopkinton, Middlesex, Maine. He died on 30 May 1914 in Tetagouche, New Brunswick. He was buried 3 on 1 Jun 1914 in Methodist Burying Ground, Tetagouche, New Brunswick, Canada.

Said to be 62 years of age at time of death. Living with his parents in Bathurst in 1881, age 26, born USA; however, his sister Susanna, born NB, is also said to be 26 on that census, so something is awry! 1901 census lists him as "Jorge Smith" born 16 July 1854. In 1911 his name has been indexed as "Jean??? Smyth."

George married 2 Ermina (Harmina) (Mina) Good 1 daughter of William Good and Mary Jennings on 17 Sep 1889 in Tetagouche, New Brunswick. Ermina was born in 1869 in Gloucester County, New Brunswick. She died on 25 Nov 1925 in Tetagouche, New Brunswick.

Baptized by Rev. Richard Flood, Anglican minister.

Elizabeth married 1 James B. Pulling son of Richard Pulling and Frances Holden on 15 Jan 1863 in Middlesex County. James was born 2 on 26 Sep 1839 in Caradoc Twp, Middlesex County, Canada West. He was christened on 17 Nov 1839 in Caradoc Twp, Middlesex County. He died on 30 Apr 1908 in Ontario.

She was buried in Stratroy Cem., Strathroy, Ontario.
515 F iv Annie Elizabeth Pulling was born on 1 Sep 1875 in Caradoc tp, Middlesex county, Ontario. She died on 18 Jul 1916 in Saskatchewan. She was buried in Anglican Cem, Stony Beach, Saskatchewan.

Dates indicated are from headstone; different than FHH dates?? Death registration confirms that death.
Annie married 1 John Haggerty son of George Haggerty and Martha Bateman on 9 Jul 1913 in 20 Cathcart St., London, Ontario. John was born on 26 Sep 1871 in Caradoc Twp, Middlesex County, Ontario. He died on 13 May 1943 in Stony Beach, Saskatchewan.

Family Bible record, transcribed by FHH, gives birth date of September 26, but their daughter Alta Read gave me September 24 as John's birth date?

From Prairie Sojourn:
"Arrived in Belle Plaine Easter Sunday, 1900, to take up homestead 4 miles north of Belle Plaine (NW 20-17-23). Winter of 1902/03 returned to Ontario and married Jennie Marshman Feb. 25, 1903, then returned to Saskatchewan. Jennie died in 1911, and John later returned to Ontario again, and married Annie Pulling, who died in 1915. John's third wife was Janet Gilchrist, sister of William Gilchrist. They married June 14, 1916 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan."

1901 census has John, brother George and Aunt Jane living in Fairville, Assiniboia. Their birth dates are all incorrect. Link to images of Saskatchewan land grants:

516 M v Richard Pulling was born on 1 Apr 1876 in Ontario. He died in 1943.

This family moved to Saskatchewan in 1915.
        Richard married Gertrude Walpole.
517 F vi Frances Mary Pulling was born on 21 Jan 1879 in Caradoc Twp., Middlesex County, Ontario. She died on 28 Sep 1939 in Lot 12, Con. 2, Caradoc Twp, Ontario.
Frances married Franklin Wilbert Thompson on 25 Jan 1899 in Ontario.
518 M vii James Alfred Pulling was born on 13 May 1881 in Caradoc Twp., Middlesex County, Ontario. He died on 6 Mar 1892.

142. Mary Ann Bateman (Charles , Thomas , Charles ) was born 1 in 1843 in Middlesex County, Upper Canada.

Mary married 1 Robert Henry Francis son of Henry Francis and Maria on 30 Aug 1871 in Huron Diocese, Ontario. Robert was born in 1839.

They had the following children:

519 F i Mary Catherine Beatrice Francis was born in 1884.

145. Hannah Bateman (John Thomas , Thomas , Charles ) was born on 14 Mar 1837 in Bathurst, Gloucester County, New Brunswick. She died on 17 Jan 1914 in Warwick, Lambton county, Ontario. She was buried in Oakland Cem, Delaware, Ontario.

1901 census gives birth date of 20 November 1838; March date is from family records. Hannah's death registration (#37424) names her father as Thomas Bateman, born England, and that she was born in Caradoc tp, neither of which is correct--very wierd! Age 76 yrs, 10 mos, 8 dys. Cause of death was "Acute La Grippe"; informant was son John Chambers of Muncey.

Hannah married James Chambers in 1864 in Caradoc Twp., Middlesex County, Ontario. James was born 1 on 20 Dec 1837 in Ireland. He died on 15 Jul 1918 in Strathroy, Ontario. He was buried in Delaware, Ontario.

On-line 1901 census gives immigration year as 1834--may be when parents came?? (Caradoc Tp, Div. 1, p. 3). Birth year may be 1836?

They had the following children:

520 M i Thomas Hales Chambers was born 1 on 13 Feb 1867 in Adelaide Twp., Middlesex County, Ontario. He died on 26 Jan 1917 in London, Ontario.

Ontario death reg'n #20354: age 50, carpenter, cause of death pneumonia, son of James Chambers and Hannah Bateman; informant Hannah Bateman, 48 Adelaide St, London.
Thomas married Clara Eva Dark. Clara was born 1 on 2 Jul 1872 in Ontario.
521 M ii John Bateman Chambers was born on 13 Jun 1867 in Caradoc Twp., Middlesex County, Ontario. He died on 7 Dec 1948.
John married Mary McCracken in 1895 in Caradoc Twp., Middlesex County, Ontario. Mary was born 1 on 29 Sep 1869 in Ontario.
522 F iii Nancy Chambers was born in 1870 in Caradoc Twp., Middlesex County, Ontario.
Nancy married Arthur Grassett Smith Rev..
523 F iv Mary Jane Chambers was born in 1875 in Caradoc Twp., Middlesex County, Ontario. She died in 1913 in Saskatchewan.
Mary married Miar McLachlan in 1898. Miar was born about 1873.

146. Elizabeth Bateman (John Thomas , Thomas , Charles ) was born 1 on 8 Jan 1840 in Bathurst, Gloucester Co., New Brunswick. She died on 26 Jul 1883 in Caradoc tp, Middlesex county, Ontario. She was buried in Christ Church, Delaware, Ontario.

Death reg'n #10523-1883; age 42 yrs, 6 mos; cause of death phthisis (usually pulmonary tuberculosis);

Elizabeth married 2 John William Bateman 1 son of William Bateman and Mary Hodgins on 17 Nov 1864 in Delaware, Canada West. John was born 3 on 13 Aug 1838 in Middlesex County, Upper Canada. He was christened 4 on 15 Jun 1851 in Christ Church, Delaware, Middlesex County. He died on 21 Dec 1907 in Havensville, Kansas.

John was not living with the rest of his family on the 1851 census (actually recorded as of January 1852). He was probably the John Bateman, age 14, living with John Papineau and Catherine Bateman on Lot 12, 2nd Concession. The exact relationship between his father William and John P. is not yet proven.
John and Elizabeth lived in Lincoln Tp, Washington County Kansas at the time of the 1870 census, which indicated that their son John, then aged 2 years, had been born in Canada. This indicates that they moved from Ontario to Kansas between 1868 and 1870. The Jackson county, Kansas naturalization record for John W. Bateman, age 30 years, arrived 24 September 1868 is presumed to be this man. John and his family then returned to Ontario where their daughter Mary was born in 1876. They were in Caradoc Tp, Ontario for the 1881 census, and Elizabeth died there in 1883. John was left an inheritance by his aunt Louisa Bateman (nee Mills), who died in 1887. According to her will, at that time John was living in Smithland Iowa, an area where some related Batemans still live.
John later returned to Kansas and in 1900 was living with his daughter Mary in Lincoln, Pottawatomie county, Kansas. That census indicated he immigrated to the USA in 1870. The following death record is believed to be for this John:
Pottawatomie County, Kansas Death Record, Page 212 Book C
Name John Bateman
Address Havensville
Sex Male Color W Age 70 Widower
Cause of Death Diabetes Date 12-21-1907
Occupation Farmer
Nativity Canadian
Place of Death Havensville

They had the following children:

524 M i William Swanton Bateman is printed as #300.
525 M ii John Bateman is printed as #301.
526 F iii Jane Bateman is printed as #302.
527 M iv David Newton Bateman is printed as #303.
528 F v Mary Esther Bateman is printed as #304.

148. Swanton Sargent Bateman (John Thomas , Thomas , Charles ) was born on 19 Jul 1843 in Bathurst, Gloucester Co., New Brunswick. He died on 14 Dec 1902 in Gales Creek, Washington County, Oregon, U S A.

Another source had birth date as 19 June 1843. A Jackson county, Kansas naturalization record for Swanton Bateman, born "New Brunswick, a province of Great Briton" is assumed to be this man. That record indicates that Swanton entered the United States 26 March 1868, aged about 24 years. However, a Swanton Bateman, age 21, born New Brunswick is also found in Franklin tp, Jackson county, Kansas in the 1865 state census. Perhaps he moved to and fro? In 1870 Swanton was living in Claytonville tp, Brown Co., Kansas (P. O. Hiawatha) 8 Aug. 1870: Bateman, S. S., age 26, carpenter, real estate valued at $3000, personal property $300, born Canada, can vote. There is also an immigration record for Swanton S. Bateman in Oregon, in 1888 and 1890. In the 1880 census Swanton was living in Hillsboro Pct, Washington County, Oregon (p. 361A). At that time his occupation was lumber manufacturer.

Swanton married Amanda J. Sargent 1 on 23 Mar 1871 in Jackson County, Kansas. Amanda was born 2 about 1850 in Canada West. She died after 1920.

In 1880 Amanda was 29 and born in Canada. Her father was born in Ireland, her mother in Scotland. In 1920 she was 69, a widow living with her son Earl and his family in Oregon. That census says she was born in Kansas, her father born in Canada and her mother born in Iowa! She was said to have given birth to 8 children, 7 of whom were still living. I have not found any record of that 8th child.

They had the following children:

529 F i Nina Esther Bateman 1, 2 was born on 18 Feb 1872 in Netwaka, Blue Rapids County, Kansas. She died on 6 Jul 1953 in Monroe, Snohomish County, Washington.

Nina was said to be 9 years old in 1880, so the correct birth year may have been 1871, rather than 1872?
Nina married Savil Wilson Iler 1, 2. Savil was born on 8 Dec 1867 in Gales Creek, Washington County, Oregon. He died in 1952 in Catemaco, Mexico.
530 F ii Mary Anne (Mamie) Bateman 1 was born on 4 Jun 1874 in Kansas. She died 2 on 31 Oct 1942 in Long Beach, California.

Birth date may have been June 5 (Crocker); age in 1880 was 7.
Mary married August Alfred Anderson 1 about 1894. August was born 2 about 1870 in New York.

In 1920 the family was living in Alila, California.
531 M iii Charles Sargent Bateman 1, 2 was born on 2 May 1877 in Gales Creek, Washington County, Oregon. He died on 31 Oct 1942 in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon.

Birth date may have been 25 May; three years old in 1880. Charles was a farmer in Oregon (1910 and 1920 census).
Charles married 2 Rosa Mae McRoberts 1 on 25 Feb 1903. Rosa was born on 29 Dec 1882. She died in May 1974 in Gales Creek, Washington County, Oregon.

Social Security issued in Oregon in 1963
532 M iv John Benjamin "Ben" Bateman 1 was born 2 on 10 Jan 1880 in Gales Creek, Oregon. He died 3 on 23 Apr 1963.

John was 3 months old at the time of the 1880 census.
John married 2 Margaret "Nellie" Miller 1 on 26 Nov 1903. Margaret was born 3 on 14 Mar 1883 in Iowa. She died 4 in Dec 1979 in Forest Grove, Oregon.
533 F v Margaret Ivy Bateman 1, 2 was born on 19 May 1882 in Hillsboro, Washington County, Oregon. She died on 25 Nov 1955 in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon.
        Margaret married Joseph Jarvis 1.
534 F vi Alice Amanda Bateman 1, 2 was born on 6 Mar 1887 in Gales Creek, Washington County, Oregon. She died on 10 Feb 1956 in Corvallis, Benton County, Oregon.

In 1910 Alice was a student living in a rooming house in Corvallis, Oregon.
Alice married Harry Asbahr 1, 2. Harry was born on 11 May 1888. He died in Mar 1971 in Corvallis, Benton County, Oregon.

SSDI record believed to be this person--unverified.
535 M vii Joseph "Earl" Bateman 1, 2 was born on 16 Jul 1889. He died on 15 May 1961.
Joseph married Tessie Johnston 1. Tessie was born 2 about 1900 in Oregon.

150. Martha Bateman (John Thomas , Thomas , Charles ) was born on 1 Feb 1848 in Caradoc twp, Middlesex County, Canada West. She was christened on 23 Apr 1848 in Christ Church, Delaware, Canada West. She died on 14 May 1920 in Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan. She was buried in Anglican Cem, Stony Beach, Saskatchewan.

Caradoc Census for 1901 gives birth year of 1847, but is likely an error. Martha was born a few miles south-west of London, shortly after her parents moved from New Brunswick.

Martha married George Haggerty son of John Haggerty and Margaret Gawley on 17 Nov 1870 in Christ Church, Delaware, Ontario. George was born on 11 Feb 1845 in Hastings County, Canada West. He was christened on 22 Oct 1845 in St. Thomas Church, Belleville. He died on 9 Sep 1921 in Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan. He was buried in Anglican Cem, Stony Beach, Saskatchewan.

George Sr.'s birth date, according to notes Florence Huff Haggerty made from the family Bible which was in the possession of Maggie Fisher, was 27 September 1842. However, the birth dates of George and William were apparently interchanged. February 11, 1845 is the date in George and Martha's Bible (now in the possession of Margery Haggerty Ford), and is now seen to be correct (baptism record and 1861 census). In the 1901 census his birth date is recorded as 11 February 1844. Baptism sponsors were William Collins, William D. Collins and Mrs. W. Collins. I do not know who these people were.
George apparently moved from Hastings County to Middlesex County in the late 1860s. After George and Martha's marriage in 1870, his brother Tom and sister Jane and their father came to live with them (the 1871 census has John and Jane living with Martha and George, but not Tom, who was living with James and Elizabeth at that time). Their name is spelled "Haggarity" on the 1871 census. Ancestry.com has them indexed as "Haggerts" on the 1901 census (Caradoc Div.1, p. 10). When their son George was born their residence was recorded as Lot 20, R 4 S, Caradoc tp.
I have seen a series of documents relating to the land in Caradoc Twp. farmed by George and Martha from 1870 until 1906. There were a number of mortgages and similar documents during those 36 years, suggesting on-going financial difficulties. In the 1870 documents George and Martha signed their names "Haggarty." Later documents were signed "Haggerty." In 1906 George and Martha sold the farm in Ontario and moved west to Saskatchewan following their three sons. George lived his last few years with his son and daughter-in-law, George and Florence, in Belle Plaine.

Family Bible record, transcribed by FHH, gives birth date of September 26, but their daughter Alta Read gave me September 24 as John's birth date?

Amongst the papers left by Martha Bateman and now in the possession of Marjorie Haggerty (Ford) is a poem, handwritten on a paper edged in black:

A Farewell
Farewell parents, you will miss me,
When the stars are shining bright,
You will often think of Willie,
When you sit alone at night.
But remember I am happy,
In the presence of the Lord,
And when death has called you dear ones,
May our union be restored.
Friends and school mates you will miss me,
When you all together meet,
You perhaps will think of Willie,
When you see his vacant seat.
But I've gone to swell the numbers,
Of the great angelic throng,
And when death has called you loved ones,
You will meet your absent one.
Though I'm first to break the number,
Of your family, parents dear,
Yet my happy spirit is yonder,
Where we all must soon appear.
Look to Jesus, my dear loved ones,
Trusting in a Saviour's love,
We may all unbroken mingle,
In that blessed home above.

Written on the death of Willie Haggerty,
who died October 19th, 1893

540 F v Mary E. Haggerty was born on 14 May 1878 in Caradoc Twp, Middlesex Co, Ontario. She died 1 on 18 Nov 1979 in Solano, CA.

In 1901 Fred and Mary and their infant son George were living at Old Wives Lake, Assiniboia, Northwest Territories (later Saskatchewan), in the same household as Fred's parents, George and Elizabeth Williams.
1920 census: Mary L. Greis, age 40, immigrated to USA in 1907,
In 1922 Mary was living with her son George at 728 Arizona Avenue, Los Angeles county, California. Mary was registered as a "Socialist."

Fred was said to be a rancher and a resident of Caradoc when he married. In 1901 Fred and Mary and their infant son George lived with his parents at their ranch at Old Wives' Lake, south of Moose Jaw. At that time this was the North West Territories--in 1905 it became the province of Saskatchewan.
Mary married (2) James Greig. James was born on 24 Nov 1864 in Canada. He died 1 on 12 Dec 1952 in Los Angeles, California.

541 M vi George Rolland Haggerty 1 was born on 28 Mar 1880 in Caradoc Twp, Middlesex Co, Ontario. He died on 8 Jan 1960 in Texas, USA. He was buried on 11 Jan 1960 in Anglican Cem, Stony Beach, Saskatchewan.

Ontario birth registration #19645.
George Haggerty and his two brothers were the first members of this Haggerty family to go west to Saskatchewan. George first went west with his friend and distant cousin, Dick Pulling, about 1900. These two men worked on the Williams ranch near what is now called Old Wives Lake, south of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. In 1901 the census has John, George and their Aunt Jane living in Fairville, Assiniboia (their birth dates are all incorrect). In 1906 George is recorded as a boarder in the household of Laura and Charles Brooks in Assiniboia West (District: #12, Subdistrict: 25+A which included townships 15, 16 17 and 18 inclusive, in ranges 22, 23 and 24 west of the 2nd M, Page 5). George evidently returned to Ontario at some point in 1906 to assist his parents wind up their affairs before they also moved to Saskatchewan with their four youngest daughters, as he signed some of the documents when his parents' Caradoc farm was sold.
The Haggertys settled near Belle Plaine and Stony Beach (between Regina and Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan). George met his future wife, Florence Huff, when she came west to teach school and boarded with the Haggerty family. George established his own homestead and farmed until his son Sam took on responsibility for the family farm in the early 1940s. George and Florence were both very active in a variety of community affairs during their life in Belle Plaine.
George and Florence retired to Regina in the mid 1940s and during their later years spent many winters in Weslaco, Texas, returning to Regina each spring. George suffered greatly from trigeminal neuralgia during the last several years of his life and died following surgery in an attempt to relieve that pain.
George married Florence May Huff daughter of Samuel Huff and Margaret (Maggie) Eleanor Barnhart on 29 Jun 1908 in Regina, Saskatchewan. Florence was born on 22 May 1887 in Orillia, Ontario. She died on 22 Apr 1965 in Regina, Saskatchewan. She was buried in Anglican Cem, Stony Beach, Saskatchewan.

In many ways, Florence, daughter of a public school inspector in Ontario, was ahead of her time. Her family had Quaker roots and raised their daughters to be confident and capable women, unencumbered by society's expectations for women to be submissive to men. She was a teacher prior to her marriage to George Haggerty.
Florence and George travelled extensively throughout their lifetime, often visiting relatives in Ontario, where Florence found it difficult to keep track of all of the Haggertys and began to take notes. Others were interested in her notes, and she soon found herself compiling a genealogy of the Haggerty family. In the 1930s there were still living family members who had been born soon after the family came from Ireland. Information from those family members, records from family bibles and cemetery records provided Florence's major sources. Unfortunately, few of her original notes have survived, with the exception of a large number of letters from the descendants of Jonathan Haggertie and Sarah Morley. By the 1940s Florence had compiled enough information to produce four different booklets, which were printed by her son's father-in-law, Lester Small. The first booklet (1942) concentrated on the descendants of William Haggerty, her husband George's great-grandfather. Following were books on the descendants of each of two of William's brothers, Jonathan and James, and a more general book addressing the origins and early years of not only these three brothers, but their other 11 sisters and brothers. The information Florence compiled in these books, plus notes that she left, have given me an amazing start in my quest to identify the descendants of all 14 members of the family.
