Annie Beshears, 71, Dies On Friday; Funeral Held Sunday
Annie Flavil Yates Beshears, 71, of Fourth Street, North Wilkesboro, widow of Marshall Clinton Beshears, died Friday, May 22, at N.C. Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Stony Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Roy Foster, the Rev. Doug Triplett, and the Rev. Marvin Beshears. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs Beshears was born in Wilkes County, Nov. 17, 1920, to Claude and Maggie Pilkenton Yates. She was retired from American Drew.
She is survived by four daughters, Debra Roten and Virginia Foster, both of North Wilkesboro, Viola Bustle of Statesville, and Cyndi Mahaffey of Union Grove; four step-daughters, Athalia Engelbert and Clara Vannoy, both of Millers creek, Vannie Miller of Winston-Salem and Mary Michael of North Wilkesboro; two sons, Neil Beshears and Kenneth Beshears, both of North Wilkesboro; four step-sons, Aren Beshears, of North Wilkesboro; Clark Beshears of High Point, Bob Beshears and Marvin Beshears, both of North Wilkesboro; one sister, Virgie Yates of Millers Creek; one brother, Allen Yates of Millers Creek; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mildred York Hogsed
Mildred York Hogsed, 74, of Muskrat Creek Road, Hayesville, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004 at her residence.
She was a native of Rabun County, Ga. and had lived in Clay County for the past 50 years. She was of the Protestant faith and had retired from Clifton Precision as an inspector. She was a member and past president of the Shooting Creek Ladies Auxiliary and secretary of Shooting Creek Volunteer Fire Department. She was a daughter of the late John Esco and Martha Jane Trusty York and was preceded in death by her husband, Allen J. Hogsed, Sr.
She is survived by four sons, Allen J. Hogsed, Jr. of Douglasville, Ga., John Hogsed and wife, Linda, of Marietta, Ga., Julius Hogsed and wife, Deborah, of Forest City, N.C., and Phillip Hogsed, Sr. and wife, Phyllis, of Kennesaw, Ga.; a daughter and her husband, Jane Hogsed Smart and Charles Smart of Leasburg, N.C.; six sisters, Helen Andrews of Asheville, N.C., Josephine Lemon of Carrollton, Ga., and Nellie Turpin, Venus Smith, Edith Bray and Alma Jones, all of Clayton, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 2, at the Townson Rose, Frank Rose, Sr. Memorial Chapel in Hayesville. The Rev. Steve York and Rev. Curtis Ledford officiated. Burial was in the Laurel Hills Memory Gardens Cemetery in Towns County, Ga. Pallbearers were Dudley York, Curtis Beck, Don Andrews, Marshal Bray, Randy Dickerson and Russell Turpin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made In Memory of Mildred Hogsed, to Shooting Creek Volunteer Fire Dept., P. O. Box 1334, Hayesville, NC 28904 or to Good Shepherd Home Health and Hospice Agency, P. O. Box 465, Hayesville, NC 28904.
