Clara Marie Watts Hartzog, age 76 of West Jefferson, died Sunday, February 20, 2005 at the Forsyth Medical Center.
Mrs. Hartzog was born on March 12, 1928 in Wilkes County, NC to John and Fannie Lovett Watts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Couge Hartzog, and brothers Jim, Clyde, Earl, Dwight, Charlie and Guy Watts.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 21, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jack Miller officiated. Burial followed in the Hartzog Cemetery. The family received friends Monday, February 21, 2005 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Badger Funeral Home.
The family request that memorials be made to Hospice of Ashe County, PO Box 421, Jefferson, NC 28640.
Mrs. Hartzog is survived by a son, Jerry Dean Hartzog of West Jefferson; a daughter, Phyllis Hartzog Winebarger of Boone; four grandchildren, Monica Winebarger, Troy Hartzog, Beth Hartzog and Alex Hartzog; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
