Obituary from The Waynesville / Fort Wood Daily Guide, Pulaski County, Missouri, dated April 8, 1988:
Emma B. Hicks, a long time correspondent for the Daily Guide, died Wednesday at the Waynesville Nursing Center. She was 102 years old. She was Pulaski County's oldest resident.
Mrs. Hicks, a lifetime resident of Pulaski County, wrote a weekly article for the Daily Guide for many years until failing health finally prevented her from doing so. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Waynesville with Rev. Othal Hodson and Reverend Wilbur Harbaugh officiating. Burial was in the Hopewell Cemetery in Big Piney, under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel. Survivors include one daughter, Ina Sierling, of Waynesville; one son, C. C. "Lum" Setser, and his wife, Marge, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a stepson, Johnny Setser, of Tuscumbia; a stepdaughter, Sarah Rapp, of Sedalia; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in Mrs. Hicks' name for the Waynesville First Baptist Church Building Fund.
