Mrs. Dicey Bates
Mrs. Dicey Stiwater Bates, 58, of Franklin, Route 1, died Saturday night in a Clayton, Ga., hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Bates was a native of Macon County.
Surviving are her husband, Mack Bates,; six daughters, Mrs. Louise Webb and Mrs. Betty Wilson, both of Franklin, Route 1, Mrs. Christine Webb and Mrs. Lou Ann Wilson, both of Franklin, Route 2, Mrs. Esta Williams of Huntersville and Mrs. Frances McCall of Highlands; tow sons, Junior of Suches, Ga., and Wilburn Bates of Franklin, Route 1; a sister, Mrs. Vinnie Gregory of Franklin; a brother, Lester Stiwater of Franklin, Route 4; and 27 grandchildren.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cartoogechaye Baptist Church, of which, she was a member.
The Rev. Gene Southards, the Rev. Johnny Hopkins, and the Rev. Norman Webb took part in the service. Burial was in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bud, Kenneth, Linton and Robert Webb, James Wilson and Woodrow Williams.
The body was taken to the residence of Wilburn Bates by Bryant Funeral Home, where it remained until the hour of services. Parents: John Gundy STIWINTER and Lettie Margaret "Mag" HOUSTON.
