Will Roten Dies Suddenly Tues: Funeral Today

The funeral service for W.M. Will Roten, 66, well known Ashe county furniture merchant and livestock farmer, who died suddenly Tuesday morning, near his store will be held this afternoon at 2:00 at the Warrensville Baptist church with Elder Ed Davis and Rev. Ed McClure officiating. Burial will be in the Rich Hill cemetery.
The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maude Farmer Roten; four sons, Frank Roten, Bina; Robert Roten, Warrensville; Walter Roten, North Wilkesboro; and Henry Roten, of the U.S. Army; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Stanley, Warrensville; Mrs. Irene Miller, North Wilkesboro.
His father also survives, George Roten of Warrensville. Parents: George Washington ROTEN and Cora Elvira ROARK.

W. S. Roten, 89, Dies At Fig Fri.

W. Sanders Roten, one of Ashe county's oldest citizens, died last Friday at his home in the Fig community. He was 89 years old and not only lived a long life, but also a useful one.
Funeral service was, conducted Saturday morning at the home by Rev. W.B. Shives, new Methodist minister in the county and Rev. Roger Osborne.
Mr. Roten is survived by his wife and four children; Mrs. Francis Weaver, of Whitetop; Mrs. Flora Eller, Bristol, Tenn.; Mrs. C. Osborne, and J.L. Roten, of Fig. He also is survived by Mrs. Ada Roten, of Grayson, a large number of other relatives and friends. Parents: Jacob ROTEN and Nancy B. LATHAM.

Vaught Roten Buried August 3
Funeral service for Vaughn Roten, 55, Boone, formerly of Ashe County, who passed away Thursday, July 31, in Boone was conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 3, at the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating were Rev. Ed Crump, Rev. Vance Edwards and Rev. Ernie Richards with burial in the Watauga County, North Carolina - Mt. Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens.


Mr. Roten was born July 5, 1925 to the late John Gray Roten and Della Ham Roten. He moved to Boone in 1958. He was in the furniture business until 1978 and presently owned Roten Trucking County. He was a member of the Brushy Fork Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Brotherhood Director and Sunday School teacher.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Pauline Graybeal Roten of the home; two sons, John and Jack Roten, both of Boone; mother, Mrs. Della Ham Roten, Creston; one sister, Dorothy Little, Boone; one brother, Delmer Roten, West Jefferson; 4 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Dr. J.B. Hagaman Coronary Care Unit, Watauga Hospital.
The family received friends at the Hampton Funeral Home in Boone on Saturday, August 2, from 7-9 p.m. Parents: John Gray ROTEN and Della N. HAM.
