Obituary from The Skyland Post, Ashe County, North Carolina, dated February 13, 1958:
Henry Lee Roten, son of William and Martha Miller Roten, was born April 21, 1878 and departed this life January 15, 1958 at the age of 79 years, 8 months, and 25 days.
He was married to Hattie Jones and to this union was born seven children. His wife and the three following children preceded him in death; Mrs. Floss Miller , Mrs. Ella Blevins, and Mrs. Florence Thompson.
He was later married to Ennis Roten, who also preceded him in death.
He is survived by four children; Mrs. Bertha Welch, Quarryville, Pa.; Mrs. Clara Riddle, West Jefferson; Mrs. Delray Jones, Clifton; Quince Roten, Akron, Ohio; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty one great grandchildren and one brother, George Roten, Warrensville; also a host of other relatives and friends.
He professed hope in Christ in early life and united with North Fork Primitive Baptist church where he remained a member till his death.
