Charlie F. Oliver
Franklin -- Funeral services for Charlie F. Oliver, 74, who died Monday at the home of a daughter, Mrs Herman Ketner in Clemmons, after a long illness, will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Potts Funeral Home.
The Rev. George A. Cloer will officiate and burial will be in Cowetta Baptist Church cemetery. Nephews will be pallbearers.
A native of Macon county, he was born September 2, 1887, the son of the late George M. and Amelia Moore Oliver, and was a carpenter by trade.
He was married December 30, 1877 [Note: date should be 1897], to Miss Jane Holbrooks of Macon County who survives.
Surviving in addition to the widow, are four sons, Marion A. and Jess of Winston-Salem, Elmer of Wadesboro and Harry L. of Childersburg, Ala.
Also seven daughters, Mrs. Zeb Norton of Franklin, Mrs. J. K. Clontz of Morganton, Mrs. Roger McKelvin of Charleston, S. C., Mrs. C. E. Rogers of Winston-Salem, Mrs. C. M. Jolly of Lexington, Mrs. R. E. Wooten of Elkin and Mrs. Herman Ketner of Clemmons.
Two brothers, Bert of Franklin and John of Spartanburg, S. C.; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Garrett of Bessemer City, Mrs. Carrie Arnold of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Eva Campbell of South Carolina; 25 grandchildren and on great-grandchild. Parents: George M. OLIVER and Amelia MOORE.
