Mr. Norton
Jim Norton, 57, of 1401 Georgia Hwy., died Friday, Feb. 5, in a Franklin hospital.
He was a native of Stephens County, Ga., and the son of the late Zeb and Annie Oliver Norton. He was a truck driver for the Rabun County Road Department. He was a veteran of the U.s. Air Force. He attended Newmans Chapel Baptist Church.
He is survived by hs wife of 32 years, Virginia Queen Norton; one daughter, Renee Smith of Lincolnton, Ga.; two sons, Chris Norton of Otto and Steve Norton of the home; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Feb. 7, at 2 p.m., at Newmans Chapel Baptist Church, with Rev. Everette Wilson and Rev. Alton Dendy officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Marvin Carpenter, Harry Jones, Rodney Bishop, Glen Dockins, Mack Cabe, and Roy Watts.

Zeb L. Norton Dies Suddenly
His Body Found on Road; Believed To Have Had Heart Attack
Funeral services for Zeb Lawrence Norton, 46-year-old disabled World War veteran whose body was found at 11:30 o'clock Sunday night on the Tesenta road near Otto, were held at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Asbury Methodist church wit the Rev. A.A. Angel officiating.
At and inquest Monday morning a coroner's jury decided Norton died of natural causes. It is thought he suffered a heart attack. He had been in ill health for several years and from time to time had undergone treatment at a government hospital at Johnson City, Tenn.. He had planned to return there for treatment this week, it was said.
Norton's body was found by Bill Shope, of Otto, and it is thought he had been dead only a short time for the body was still warm when discovered. Shope notified authorities and the inquest was called.
Norton was born January 16, 1889, a son of Mr. and Mrs. P.L. Norton. He joined the Methodist church March 19, 1911, under the pastorship of the Rev. Mr. Brinkley. In 1918 Norton enlisted in the United States army and went overseas, where he saw active service for about a year.
Suriving Mr. Norton are his parents and four brothers, Ed, Frank and Jesse Norton, of Otto, and Earl Norton, of Washington D.C. Parents: P. L. NORTON and Callie DICKERSON.
