Dewey E. Lewis, 81
Dewey E. Lewis, 81, of Damascus, the Green Cove Community, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at his home.
He was born June 22, 1919, in Ashe County, N.C., to Ambrose and Minnie Roten Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Lura Greer Lewis of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mattie and Kyle Blevins of Whitetop and Gladys Lewis of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Judy Lewis of Abingdon; a sister, Maudie Richardson of Abingdon; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A funeral was held Tuesday at Green Cove Baptist Church, Damasuc, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jody Blevins officiated.
Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Rogers Fire and Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 47, Whitetop, Va. 24292.
