Tom Baldwin Buried Sunday
Thomas Richard Baldwin, 67, Tabor Presbyterian Church Community of Route 1, Olin died at home, Thursday, 11:45 p.m.. Death was attributed to a heart attack.
He was born in Ashe County July 3, 1906 to Reid and Martha Brooks Baldwin. He was a retired dairy farmer and member of New Hope Baptist Church on the old Mocksville Road. He married Zola Howell November 25, 1933 and they moved to the Harmony Community in 1954.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, T. Kenneth Baldwin of Route 1, Harmony, Darrell N. Baldwin of Route 3, West Jefferson, B. Cletus Baldwin of Route 2, Jonesville and Roy L. Baldwin of Route 1, Harmony; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Eugene (Peggy Ann) Gaither of Statesville; three brothers, Clarence D. Baldiwn of Route 3, West Jefferson, Banner J. Baldwin of Lansing, and Lee Baldwin of Lansing; two sisters, Mrs. Birdie Stewart of Fairfax, Va. and Mrs. R.D. (Faye) Powell of Lansing and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock from Smethport Baptist Church in the Smethport Community of Route 3, West Jefferson by Rev. Wayne Blevins, Rev. W. Edgar Denny, Rev. Kenneth F. Sechler, Rev. Parker S. McGlamery and Rev. Thomas B. Harris. Nephews served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Howell Hill cemetery.
The body remained at Reavis Funeral Home in Harmony until taken to the church to lie in state one hour before the funeral service.
The family received friends Saturday evening from 7 to 9 at the Reavis Funeral Home. They assembled Sunday at the residence of a son, Darrell N. Baldwin of West Jefferson. Parents: Reason BALDWIN and Martha BROOKS.
