Mrs. Birdie Higdon
Mrs. Birdie Greenwood Higdon, 77, of 34 Bidwell Street, died Tuesday, August 14, in Angel Community Hospital after a brief illness. She was a native of Rabun County, daughter of the late James J. and Sally Dillard Greenwood and was married to Frank M. Higdon, of Franklin, who survives.
Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Merdice Harrington, of Atlanta, Ga.
Mrs. Higdon was a homemaker and was well known as a grower of flowers that she shared generously with friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 17, at First Baptist Church in Franklin, of which she was a member. Officiating ministers were the Rev. Doug Sturgill, Dr. W. Thomas Lane and the Rev. C. E. Murray and pallbearers were Julian Cady, Howard Mashburn, Hill Parker, Clayton and Albert Ramsey, Jr., and Joe Bradley. Burial was in Macon County, North Carolina - Woodlawn Cemtery.
Bryant Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
