Mrs. Carrie Roten Jenkins, granddaugher of Martha Caroline and Taz Robinson, told the following--Benjamin Gray owned the land where the town of Jonesboro, North Carolina now stands. Martha Caroline was an only child and met Tazwell Robinson while he was on a trip to Winston Salem to sell produce. Martha Caroline was very young but fell in love with Taz and they were soon married. Carrie Roten Jenkins also stated that Benjamin and Martha Caroline are descendants of the Grays of Bowman and Grays in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Benjamin Gray owned property in Rich Hill Community known as Hilt Farmer farm. He also owned slaves and is said to have been very cruel to them. After Benjamin and Hannah died a colored baby was buried on each side of them for revenge. Parents: William B. GRAY and Female UNKNOWN.
