FLAKUS - John Flakus, living six miles west of town, died Saturday
morning at his home from the infirmities of old age. Mr. Flakus was
born 72 years ago in Galicia, Austria. He came to Platte county in 1874
and has lived here continuously ever since. He leaves a wife, besides
five
children, all of whom are grown to manhood and womanhood. Funeral
services were held in the Duncan Catholic church Monday morning and
interment made in the Catholic cemetery there.
Note: November 11, 1903 was a Wednesday. The Saturday before was the
7th.
After the death of her husband, Mary TOMASIEWICZ FLAKUS married widower
Bartholomew GALUS (my 1st cousin 3 removed).

given in the U.S. censuses, Victoria was born about 1871 in
Poland. She married John / Jan TOCZEK. According to the
dates on their tombstone at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Duncan, Platte
County, Nebraska, John was born 10 September 1861 and died 27 December
1942; Victoria died 5 February 1929.

1875. He married Anna MATYA on 8 November 1899 at St. Michael Church
in Tarnov, Platte County, Nebraska. Anna was born 26 April 1883 to
Joseph MATYA and Magdalena AUGUSTYN. She was baptized at St. Michael

Frank FLAKUS was born 7 March 1878 in Nebraska. An entry at Find A
Grave that includes a photo of his tombstone shows Frank died 2 July
1924. He is buried at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Duncan, Platte
