October 2007 -- e-mail from Bill
I am
currently working on my family records in Poland and was wondering if
you might have any records on the Chichowski family? I have most
of the American records but the Polish ones are very hard to find.
Pitor Chichowski (b1840) is the last I have going back.
I replied to Bill and asked if he could give me a little more
information about his CHICHOWSKI / CICHOWSKI family. He wrote
back saying he received the following information from the American
Society of Germans from Russia.
Ignatius Chichowski: B1886, D1953 (Poland) Immigrated to
USA 1904
Tecla Cichowski: Married to Ignatius, B1887 D. 1980 (Poland) Immigrated
to USA 1904
Ignatius Parents:
Piotr Chichowski: B 1840, D March 12, 1905 in Leki Dolne Poland
Jozefa Gonet: B 1849, D.1929 Leki Dolne Poland
Piotr’s Parents:
Andrzeja Cichowski
Marianny Mazurkiewicz
Jozefa Parents:
Michala Gonet
The name CHICHOWSKI from the Parish record of Leki Gorne / Łęki
Górne, which
includes
the Village of Leki Dolne / Łęki Dolne did not sound familiar to
me. However,
in going through my
transcribed
records I found
mention of the CICHOWSKI name in the Łęki Górne / Leki Gorne
Parish and
also in the
Pilzno Parish for the Village of Dulczówka / Dulczowka.
Dulczówka
is located between Łęki Dolne and Pilzno in southeast Poland.
The Parish of Łęki Górne / Leki Gorne includes the Village of
Łęki Dolne / Leki Dolne
The Pizlno Parish includes: Pilzno, Lipiny, Kozia Wola,
Dulczówka / Dulczowka, Strzegocice, Słotowa / Slotowa, Bielowy
and Zajączkowice / Zajaczkowice (located between Lipiny and Kozia Wola)
Based on the information that Bill sent me, I looked for a baptism
record for Ignatius in the Łęki / Leki records and found the following:
Baptism record for Ignatius CICHOWSKI
Birth/baptism record, LDS microfilm 1898739, item 4, page 96, 19

I did not find a baptism record for Ignatius' father in the Łęki
Parish, so I checked the Pilzno Parish records for the Village of
Dulczowka. There I found:

Birth/baptism record, LDS microfilm 2006732, item 2, page 94, #2

last name given), hortulanus
I Googled the name "Nolasco" and found there is a St. Peter Nolasco
http://www.catholic-forum.com/saints/saintp04.htm.
Information from Bill showed that Piotr / Petrus was married to Jozefa
GONET. I located their marriage record and Josepha's baptism
record:
