Rudolf MICEK and Anna nee SZTORC

Franciszek and Jan SZTORC / STORC had a sister Anna who immigrated to the United States about 1906/1908. Anna was born 16 February 1888 in Leki Gorne / Łęki Górne, Galicia, Poland, house 285, a daughter of Paulus SZTORC and Agnes nee STANIEC. She married Rudolf MICEK on 19 September 1911 at St. John Cantius Church in Chicago, Illinois.

Rudolf's obituary from the Dziennik Chicagoski (http://pgsa.org/dzien9029.htm) indicates he died 5 July 1939. He was living at 2313 N. Monitor Avenue. Burial was on the 8 of July from St. Jacob Church to St. Adalbert cemetery in the family plot. He was survived by his wife Marianna and children, Wladislaw, Stefania, Józef, Józefina, and Czeslaw; son-in-law, Jan Sobota; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jan and Katarzyna Storc, Franciszek and Joanna Storc, Pawel, Stefania Pinkos.

A young woman who lives in Chicago found my webpage while looking for her SZTORC family. She offered to photograph headstones of my folks who are buried at St. Adalbert Cemetery. When she sent several of the photographs, she wrote:

Sadly, Rudolf Micek was buried in a pauper's grave. His family didn't purchase the site after the 25 year period, and somebody else is on top of him, and he has no headstone. Which then also leaves me with no information on Anna. I did look her up on the computer and didn't find her, but when I go again, I will have the office staff check their computers for me. As a side note, he is in the same section as Stephania Gonsowski.

As of the posting of this page, I have not found Anna's death date or burial place; I was hoping that Robyn would find Anna's information when she visited St. Adalbert's. We will see what transpires. Zobaczymy....

Rudolf and Anna SZTORC MICEK's daughter Stephania married Jan / John SOBOTA (see below). John's obituary indicated he was buried at Maryhill Cemetery, which is just a short distance to the north of St. Adalbert's Cemetery. Stephania's tombstone is at Maryhill Cemetery, but there is no death date on it.
