John and Anna KUSH GALUS / GOLUS

I suspected for a while that Anna's maiden name was KUSH based on circumstantial information. In August 2002 I received an e-mail from the husband (Mike) of a granddaughter of John and Anna. He confirmed that Anna was indeed a KUSH. Anna was a half aunt of the Mary KUSH who married John J. GALUS/GOLUS (Mary and John are on my Related GALUS Families page.)

*NOTE: In September 2005 I had a telephone conversation with a grandson of John and Anna KUSH GALUS. He indicated that his grandfather John came to the United States in 1906 without the rest of the family. It wasn't until 1913 that Anna and their two daughters Antonia and Josie immigrated. The 1930 census gives a better picture of the immigration dates for this family. John and Anna's dates are off a year. During our conversation, this contact indicated that John became a naturalized citizen of the United States on 5 September 1917 in Loup City, Sherman County, Nebraska.

By the 1930 census Antonia/Antonette and Josie/Josephine were married. Following are the 1930 entries for John and Anna GALUS, John and Antonette GALUS VOTROUBEK, and Warren and Josephine GALUS GREENSLITT.
