Following are pictures of many of the tombstones in the St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Cemetery. This is not a complete list. Over the 4th of July 2000 weekend and mid-October 2000, Bruce and I visited several cemeteries in the Platte, Nance, Boone and Merrick Nebraska counties. Many of my maternal ancestors helped settle the St. Mary's community and were founding members of St. Mary's of the Angels parish..

Gerhard and Anna SOMMERS BROCKHAUS have no direct relationship to Marge. Several of the BROCKHAUS family are related through marriage. Their daughter Mary married Vincent WIESER, Marge's second cousin three removed. Elizabeth Mary, a granddaughter of Gerhard and Anna, daughter of Joseph and Josephine FANGMAN BROCKHAUS (buried St. Francis Assisi, Humphrey), married Marge's Granduncle Hellmuth Paul THOMAS.

The following excerpt is from a BROCKHAUS Family History that my Mother had in her genealogy papers:
On December 1, 1879 Anna died from what might have been cancer, leaving Gerhard with the seven children. In 1883 tragedy again struck when a diphtheria epidemic took the lives of Henry (age 18), Bernard (age 12), and Ferdinand (age 10) during a two week span.
