German (my sister-in-law) and found it so very interesting! My great
grandfather is Hubert Braun and the picture you have in here is the
only one I've seen of my great-grandmother (Mary Messing). My Grandma
Anna never talked about her much.
Another interesting name I discovered was Heinen which is my mother's
mother's maiden name. I'm pretty sure that Susanne Heinen was my mom's
aunt.
Great Job!!!

Comments: I have just begun research on
my family, my mother was a Veith, Somewhere she has a listing of the
children of Ignatz Veith, her grandfather. My grandfather was John
Henry Veith, b. 18 June 1892, d. Nov 1958. I do know that Ignatz was
married twice, apparently his first wife died and he married a Rosalie
???, who came from Austria, I don't know when though. They had another
5 or 6 children, and moved to California from Nebraska, but I'm not
sure when. I am not sure where exactly but the children lived in
Tulare, Stockton, and Hollister, my grandfather was a carpenter but I
think he started as a farmer but wasn't very good at it, and lived in
Oakland CA from the early 1930's until his death in 1958. At least 2 of
my grandfather's brothers were farmers, Hap (Harold) ran a walnut ranch
in Hollister CA until the 1970's. There was a Charlie and there was a
sister Ann, and I think a sister Elizabeth but at the moment I cannot
remember the names of the others.
Rosalie died in the 1930's or early 40's, I think in Hollister.
John Henry, my grandfather, married Hazel Mary Bowen in Stockton in the
early 1920's. They had 2 children, Robert James and Cora Lee ( my
mother). My uncle Bob was married 3 times but had only 1 child with the
2nd wife, Gloria, a daughter Christine. He was a race car driver and
raced in the Indy 500 from 1956 through 1970. He also toured for
Goodyear lecturing on safe driving through the 50's and 60's.
My Mother Cora Lee married William Burris McCarthy, 18 Jun 1950. and
had 4 children, all girls, Patricia Ann, Mary Katherine, Marian Susan,
and Margaret Lee.
Thank you for the information that I was able to find from your page,
it was very informative. and your page is very attractive.

Your site was great. I am trying to locate information on my
grandmother, Mildred Braun. She was born August 21, 1899 and died April
30, 1963. Since she and my grandfather divorced, before I was born, I
never really knew her. My grandfather was a Fred L. Sanborn from
Pueblo, Co. He moved around a lot. I know he was in Indiana,
Pennsylvania and Texas before retiring to Florida and he is deceased.
They had 3 sons. One of which was my father Harold A. Sanborn. I also
know that Mildred remarried a man named Edward Papke. I have been in
contact with the Papke family and they have done a great job on tracing
their Papke family history. However, no-one seems to have much on
Mildred. They said she was very mysterious about her past. I do have
some pictures of her and of a man who may even be her father. She and
Ed Papke lived in Gary, Indiana. If you think that you can help me in
any way, please drop me a line.
Again, enjoyed your website. You have done a great job.

Thanks,
Lu-Ann

I found your website while searching for information about the
artist of two paintings I unexpectedly acquired. One is a landscape, on
the reverse it reads, "Christmas 1950 Mike Czarneck to John Sokol A
token of our friendship." The other painting is a portrait of a man and
aI believe he is wearing a flight cap with aviator glasses on his head.
It is signed MJ Czarneck. If anyone is interested in these or has
information about them, you can email me. Your website is interesting
and fun. I believe it took a great deal of time and effort.

I have to say how much I love this web site. I have learned so
much more about this side of my family than I could ever
have imagined. The photos and the letter that my grandfather
wrote and all the people and names shed a whole new light on this for
me.
My Grandfather was Sylvester (Jim) Sandelier and his daughter Rosemary

remember him like it was yesterday.
My grandmother (Rose Sandelier) (Jim's Wife) just passed

Checked your site to see if you had a Louis Braun who came from
Bavaria and married a Pauline Kohlhaas and went on the have 10
children. They lived in Larium, Michigan and for a short time when
first married lived in Wisconsin where there 1st. child Mary was born.
I had no luck at your site, but I found it to be a great and

Aloha from Hawaii. Born in Franklinville with the
Sandler/Sandelier clan, I have lived since college in Florida (10
years), California (10 years), Hawaii (8 years), Nevada (2 years), and
am now back in Hawaii (3 years for 11 total). Single, I have a
3-year-old Miniature Pinscher named Shetani ("spirit of the wind" in
Swahili) and live in Waikiki Beach, Honolulu, Island of Oahu. I am a
writer/editor currently working as a technical editor for an
international architecture/planning firm that has as clients the Army,
Navy, Marine Corps., Hawaii National guard, State of Hawaii, City &
County of Honolulu, among many others. In past years I was a newspaper
reporter and editor in New Jersey (Camden Courier-Post) and Florida
(Clearwater Sun). In San Diego I was publisher/editor of newspapers
(The New Democrat, Navy News)and magazines (San Diego County Bar
Association DICTA and others)and was elected to three two-year terms in
San Diego Democratic Central Committee, three terms on State of
California Democratic Party, and served on executive committees of
both. I was also elected as a Gary Hart delegate to the 1984 Democratic
Presidential Convention as well as four state Democratic Party
conventions, and was a political consultant for Sen. Gary Hart, Vice
President Al Gore, Sen. Diane Feinstein, and several members of the
U.S. Congress, California Assembly, Mayors of San Diego, San Francisco,
and Los Angeles, and many others. In 1988, after a visit to Hawaii two
years earlier, I sold my businesses in San Diego and moved to Hawaii.
In 1989, I was founding editor of Island Home magazine, the only Hawaii
magazine ever to win a first-place national award ("Best Home Magazine
in the Nation")from the magazine industry. In 1990, I published a
coffee-table book "Architecture in Hawaii," a best-seller and the most
comprehensive bok ever written on the subject to this day. In 1993, my
second coffee-table book, "Architecture in Hawaii" debuted in the No. 2
spot of the Hawaii Best Sellers List and finished 8th for 1993. I am
currently writing another golf book, "Legends of Hawaii Golf: The First
Century." I also have designed several books since 1982, and have
served as editor and contributing writer for more than a dozen books
and magazines in Hawaii and California. My newest project, and a means
for promoting the "Legends" book, is a website magazine (and e-commerce
site): "HawaiiGolfJournal.com" which I hope to have up by the end of
the year. Part of the profits from e-comerce sales and book sales will
benefit Hawaii Junior Golfers through the Hawaii Junior Golf
Scholarship Fund, which I founded in 2000. I am a member of the Hawaii
Golf Writers Association and the U.S. Golf Association and actually
find time for a few holes now and then. My Waikiki condo overlooks the
Ala Wai Municipal Golf Course, which is listed in the Guiness Book of
Records as the busiest golf course in the world. I hope to find more
time to travel. In recent years I have visited Italy (Venice, Florence,
Portofino, Milan, and Lago d'Iseo/Brescia/Italian Alps), Paris,
Copenhagen and surrounds, London, French Polynesia (Tahiti, Moorea,
Huahine, the Tuamotos, the Gambiers), Alaska, Canada (British Columbia,
Vancouver Island, the Klondike), the Bahamas, Mexico, and about half of
the Mainland U.S. But there are plenty of places I want to see as a
travel/food writer (free first class airfare, cruise ship passage,
5-star hotels and restaurants). The more I travel, the more I realize
how much of this planet I have not seen. I hope that all of my cousins
and other relatives visiting Hawaii will contact me. Twin brother
Richard and his wife, Cheryl, visited for the first time on our
Millennium year birthday in May. I was reunited with brother Ed and his
wife Pat and daughter Kimberley Ann for almost three months in Florida
in the summer of 1997. Family ties are important. And although we have
scattered to the far corners of the map, it is nice to know we have the
World Wide Web to link us. I am trying to get brother Richard and my
mother, Gloria Young, to buy their first computers ever (and join the
cyber world finally). Your site is an inspiration and you should be
congratulated for all the hard work and research. Aloha nui loa.

Hi Marge: It was really interesting to see all the migration
patterns forNebraska. It was a good question to ask. I was interested
to see that Platte and Nance are your counties. They are mine as well.
I've seen your name a lot on the internet but I didn't
realize you were researching these counties. I was born in Columbus but
moved east with my folks when I was a young child. We are in touch with
all our Platte County relatives and re-unite every three years all over
th country (wherever a host family lives. ) My research is
really in its beginning stages (about six or seven months.) A major
breakthrough occurred when, by serendipity, I was
informed by Sherri Brakenhoff that her husband and I share the same
great-grandmother! She has been really helpful along those lines. Those
are my Ostfriesland forebears. I will continue to search for my lines
in Insel Ruegen, Schleswig-
Holstein and Oldenberg. My Nance county people are from Austria-Poland
and settled near Genoa. I am in the process of
writing letters to my Polish People. I have obtained the marriage and
cemetery books of Platte County. They were of enormous help. Also
helpful to me
on Nance County were Ted and Carol. I imagine you and I have some
common history if not common relatives.
Sincerely, Judy Martin
P. S. I realize this probably should have been an e-mail and not a
