researching my grandmother Anna Wnek born in Pilzno
according to your records microfilm 2006732 item 6
Is there any way of viewing this record?
Born around 1880
Is there a way to contact St. John the Baptist Church, Pilzno, Woj. Podkarpackie, Poland
thank you
aurie sullivan

Marge's notes:  Aurie is referring to a partial transcription of the Pilzno Parish records I have at  These microfilms can be ordered through the Mormon Church and viewed at a Family History Center.  On the main page of you can search for a Family History Center near you.  The Library Catalog Search is on page  Aurie indicates that Anna Wnek was born in Pilzno, however it is more likely that Anna was born in a village in the area of Pilzno.  Pilzno was and still is an administrative area.  Many immigrants put these administrative towns as their birthplace rather than the name of the village they were from.  The microfilm 2006732 would be a place to start.

Comments: Looking for info on Walter and Aniela Palkowski. Immigrated from Proszowki Austria 1908...Walter born 1883
Came through Ellis Island...settled in Springfield MA.

Marge's notes:  I do not have specific information about the PALKOWSKI name.  The church records for Proszowki have been microfilmed by the Mormon church.  The JewishGen Shetlseeker - Town Locator page shows that the village of Proszowki is located between Krakow and Tarnow, Poland.  The PolishRoots website has a Galician Town Locator page that shows Proszowki was/is part of the Krzyzanowice Wielkie parish.  Galicia was that part of Poland that was under Austrian rule during the Partitions of Poland.

How I found this page Rootsweb
Surnames I am researching Lehmkuhl, Rahn, Copenharve
Comments: I'm just starting out researching my family history and am taking a short introductory class at church. I've looked at a few sites trying to find my mother's family, but with no luck. I was beginning to think they dropped out of a space ship into Omaha. Today I came home from church and queried Rootsweb for my great grandmother, Mathilda Lehmkuhl. I can't tell you how excited I am to find Grossie! You have so much information about so many of my ancesters. I can't wait to look at what you have posted more carefully and identify relationships. I'm thrilled with the information you shared.

I glanced at your surnames but didn't see where the Lehmkuhls, Rahns and Copenharves relate to you. I have some additional names of Mathilda Lehmkuhl's descendants and Isaac and Mary Copenharve's family. If you are interested, let me know.

Thank you for the wonderful, detailed work you have done.

How I found this page searching Proszowski
Surnames I am researching Proszowski & Tomasiewicz
Comments: I have information on my Proszowski geneology back to my great grandparents George & Anna (Mruwka) Proszowski in the Pilzno & Zwiernik area of Poland. Most of this info I've gotten from the St. Peter & Paul, Krakow centenial book.
When I have tried to do research for info from Poland, I usually get to a site that is is Polish and I can't read or speak Polish. Can you give me some advice on researching geneology from Poland?
My mother was a Tomasiewicz and her mother was an Iwan. My wife's maiden name is Dus' and her mother was a Borys. We are both originally from the Duncan and Pilsno area of Nebraska.
Any help or advis that you might give would be appreciated.
Thank you.

My grandparents Raymond and Myrtle Canfield, and his brother ans S-I-L Neal and Norma canfield moved to Trego in the 70's from Mpls. They all lived on the west side of the highway and on the other side there was Jack Canfield's resort. What a small world to ehar of Canfield's in Spooner/ Trego! You have a terrific website!

Comments: I am also a decendant of Matthew Camfield. Matthew > Samuel> Jedediah> John > John Edwin> William White > Jabez Watson.

According to my findings John was an engineer that came from New York through Virginia/West Virginia to the Edgefield District of South Carolina to build a grist mill on Hard Labor Creek near McCormick, SC.
John Edwin was born in Randolph County, Virginia in 1769 and died in Mt. Lebanon, LA. There was a group from the Edgefield district that moved to Louisiana and John Edwin was one of them.Thought this might be of interest to you.

How I found this page Looked for things on the ZACH families
Surnames I am researching ZACH
Comments: My Brother-in-law who is 80 is an offspring of Frank Zach as Frank Reeves', Mother', Louise ZACH was the new baby about a week old when her mother died in 1888. Frank Reeves is married to my wife's sister and they live at Ava, MO.
On the Peterson side my second cousin, Cleone Peterson was married to Arnold Zach of Wayne, NE. so two branches of the ZACH tree are of interest, as have worked on both for the families involved. I have worked some with Arnold's Daughter, Jan ZACH Magnuson of Wayne, NE. as her daughter is interested in Genealogy.
I am a member of Platte Valley Kin seekers of Columbus and was president for one year.
