Comments: | My name is Aurie Sullivan. E-mail
[email protected] researching my grandmother Anna Wnek born in Pilzno according to your records microfilm 2006732 item 6 Is there any way of viewing this record? Born around 1880 Is there a way to contact St. John the Baptist Church, Pilzno, Woj. Podkarpackie, Poland thank you aurie sullivan |
Marge's notes:
Aurie is referring to a partial transcription of the Pilzno Parish
records I have at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~polishrecords/index.htm.
These microfilms can be ordered through the Mormon Church and viewed at
a Family History Center. On the main page of FamilySearch.org
you can search for a Family History Center near you. The Library
Catalog Search is on page http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp.
Aurie indicates that Anna Wnek was born in Pilzno, however it is more
likely that Anna was born in a village in the area of Pilzno.
Pilzno was and still is an administrative area. Many immigrants
put these administrative towns as their birthplace rather than the name
of the village they were from. The microfilm 2006732 would be a
place to start. |

I do not have specific information about the PALKOWSKI name. The
church records for Proszowki have been microfilmed
by the Mormon church. The JewishGen Shetlseeker - Town
Locator page shows that the village of Proszowki is located between
Krakow and Tarnow, Poland. The PolishRoots website has a Galician
Town Locator page that shows Proszowki was/is part of the Krzyzanowice
Wielkie parish. Galicia was that part of Poland that was under
Austrian rule during the Partitions of Poland. Surnames I am researching | Lehmkuhl, Rahn, Copenharve |
Comments: | I'm just
starting out researching my family history and am
taking a short introductory class at church. I've looked at a few sites
trying to find my mother's family, but with no luck. I was beginning to
think they dropped out of a space ship into Omaha. Today I came home
from church and queried Rootsweb for my great grandmother, Mathilda
Lehmkuhl. I can't tell you how excited I am to find Grossie! You have
so much information about so many of my ancesters. I can't wait to look
at what you have posted more carefully and identify relationships. I'm
thrilled with the information you shared. I glanced at your surnames but didn't see where the Lehmkuhls, Rahns and Copenharves relate to you. I have some additional names of Mathilda Lehmkuhl's descendants and Isaac and Mary Copenharve's family. If you are interested, let me know. Thank you for the wonderful, detailed work you have done. information on my Proszowski geneology back to my
great grandparents George & Anna (Mruwka) Proszowski in the Pilzno

St. Peter & Paul, Krakow centenial book. When I have tried to do research for info from Poland, I usually get to a site that is is Polish and I can't read or speak Polish. Can you give me some advice on researching geneology from Poland? My mother was a Tomasiewicz and her mother was an Iwan. My wife's maiden name is Dus' and her mother was a Borys. We are both originally from the Duncan and Pilsno area of Nebraska. Any help or advis that you might give would be appreciated. Thank you. Gene Prososki |
