According to the biography of Joseph M. VEIK in PAST AND PRESENT OF PLATTE COUNTY Martin A. and Joseph F. were two of Joseph M. and Elizabeth SCHILZ VEIK's children. "To Mr. and Mrs. Veik have been born nine children: John B., Frank J., William P., Henry C., Agnes M. and Celia M., all of whom are yet living; while those who have passed away are: Leo H., who died in October, 1899; Joseph F., in August, 1913; and Martin A., in November, 1914." The dates in Past and Present of Platte County conflict with the dates on the tombstones, but they are close enough that we can surmise these are the same children.

Surnames I am researching Golus
Comments:
I was born in Loup City, Nebraska on September 15, 1936. In reviewing your "Related Galus Families" website I can be helpful. My great grandfather and grandmother were John and Lucy Golus (not Galus). Their family was Catherine, John (my grandfather), Frank, Joseph, Thomas, Della and Peter. Besides my grandfather I knew Frank, Joseph, Della and Peter. I was aware of Joseph Toczek and my grandfathers oldest sister Catherine. I knew their son Joseph quite well and maet some of his brothers and sisters. I knew their sons wife who was and Augustyn and all their children. They made their residence in Loup City. My grandfather John married Mary Kush and I was told she passed away of the flu in 1918. Anna Tutaj was my step-grandmother and they had two children. My father, Joseph, was the oldest child of John and Mary Kush. My father married Josephine Grella, my mother. Ann and Sally Golus were my fathers two sisters. I knew the Galus family that lived in Loup City. The father and two boys worked for the railroad. My step-grandmother and Mrs. Galus were very, very, close. They conversed in Polish. One of their children was named Stanley. He never married. One boy lived in Boise, Idaho. I did meet him and his wife when my parents would come out and visit me. They had two girls possible more. I met most of the family. One of the girls was living in Omaha and I played golf with her once while visiting relatives in Omaha. My father told me she was a Nebraska State champion golfer. I never verify this. I hope this is helpful. I now know who my great great grandparent are and where they lived in Poland. I know I was a Galacian and relatives came from around Tarnov.

Bruce: While searching for info for PETER & EVE DEFRAIN, I found your website. One of the very best I have seen. It is great!!. My 5h gr-grandfather Adam HEYLMAN/HOLMAN of Chester Co., PA, Pikeland Twp., married an Elisabeth DEFRAIN. Source: Augustus Lutheran Church marriage records---Heilman, Jurg Adam and Duprene, Elisabeth from beyond the Schuykill married March 1745. I feel she may be the daughter of PETER AND EVE DEFRAIN. The only info I have found so far is: Vincent Twp. Land Owners 1774--PETER DEFRAIN; Will Abstracts--Peter Defrain Will Feb. 4, 1782 Proven 27 Apr, 1782; 5 daughters, only Mary and Catherin named. PETER DEFRAIN mentioned in Zion Lutheran Church Records, East Pikeland, Chester Co., PA. If anyone has info for Peter and Eve, I would appreciate hearing from them. This name variation is so confusing. Bettie Confer

I came across your page by accident, but it mayhe something that I am looking for. My great grandfather is Jakob Kush(Kusz/Kus). He came to America in 1912. I heave proof that his parents were a Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kush (Kusz/Kus)from Galacia/Poland. I have Jakob's papers from his journey, stating he was from Bubka, Galacia. Do you know of this tree of Kush's? is it the same Thomas that is in your photos? I have no other records of Jakob's parents. I know that he does have a brother, Andrew or Anthony.

Your site is wonderful, by the way.

I love your website. I am a daughter to Francis Braun living in Cedar Rapids, NE. His father was Bernard Braun and Bernard's father was Hubert Braun. I live in Schuyler, NE and was just up visiting the cemetary near Humphrey to show my kids. Since my Dad is 83 now, I need to get him up there to soak up as many stories and info as I can get. I see Carla Hansen signed your guestbook, which she is my 1st cousin!! There was a gravemarker that had "Irene Braun 1903" on it at St Mary's. Does anyone have any info who she was? I am checking with the Humphrey St Francis Church as they have the cemetary info from St Marys. I will check back often and hope someone emails me back! I will also forward this to all relatives.

Witam,
Dlatego zycze Panstwu wszystkiego dobrego i pomyslnosci w dalszym pielegnowaniu historii rodziny Sztorc.

Pozdrawiam

Wiktor Sztorc
