Thomas, of Bures St. Mary, Suffolk, England was born about 1545, was buried there May 18, 1613, called "the Sexton". He may be a brother of William, Elizabeth, Ann and Margaret Knopp, who married at Bures St. Mary in the late 1500's. On January 10, 1569/70, Thomas married at Bures St. Mary, Alice Howlat, who may be a daughter of Nicholas Howlett of Bures St. Mary. The baptisms of four children of Thomas Knopp are recorded in the registers of Bures St. Mary, with another four, presumed to be his, baptized between 1571/2 and 1580/1 without parents' names.
