He served on the City Council of Ronceverte, and as President of the Board of Education; was Cashier of the First National Bank of Ronceverte; elected to the House from Greenbrier County in November, 1916; to the standing committees of 1917 was assigned as follows: Taxation and Finance (ranking member); Private Corporations and Joint Stock Companies, Railroads, Forfeited and Unappropriated Lands, Forestry and Conservation.
