Wilhelm was the first Kraus of our family to raise his family in the village of Schilling, right on the banks of the Volga River. Schilling's Russian name was Sosnovka, which Schilling native Peter Sinner (b.1879), an author of some renown, said meant "Spruce Village" (see AHSGR Journal, volume 7.1, p.17).
