Will of William Otridge 1885 Source: w2: Principal Probate Registry Wills. (172) PPR Will Transcript: This is the Last Will and Testament of me William Otridge Rate Collector of 32 Angel Road Hammersmith in the County of Middlesex on this the ninth day of November one thousand eight hundred and eighty five. Firstly I desire that all my just debts funeral expenses and testementary expenses be paid and satisfied by my executors as soon as may be convenient after my decease. Secondly I devise and bequeath to my daughter Alice Otridge three hundred pounds and to my sister in law Caroline White the sum of one hundred pounds being together the amount of £400 being the value of a policy in the British Empire Life Assurance Company. The legacy as faar as regards Caroline White to be duty free and should she be deceased the whole of the £400 to revert to my daughter Alice. Thirdly I devise and bequeath to my son William Frederick Otridge the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid out of shares in Building Societies and in case of his decease to revert to his daughter Harriette Elizabeth Otridge. Fourthly I devise and bequeath to my daughters Alice and Edith Otridge and Mrs Clara Maishman the value of shares and moneys invested in the Western and General Building Society The London Scottish Building Society and the Liberator Building Society or any other Company or Association or Society to be paid in the following proportions. To Alice and Edith equal shares but to Clara Maishman one twentieth less that is to say where Edith and Alice take one hundred pounds each Clara is to take only eighty. And should either sister be deceased it shall (it shall) be equally divided between the surviving sisters. Fifthly I devise and bequeath to my daughters Alice and Edith Otridge and Mrs Clara Maishman all my property in leasehold No 3 7 Homefield Cottages British Grove Chiswick No 48 50 Black Lion Lane Hammersmith and No 32 Angel Road Hammersmith all in the County of Middlesex to have and to hold or sell as may be agreed upon by them and the executors. Sixthly I devise and bequeath to my daughter Alice all my household furniture linen plate glass and should there be any money in the house or a balance at the bank it shall be used for purposes in carrying out the will and alsoten pounds to be paid to Mr Wm Cox of Castlenau for any trouble he may take as my executor. Sevethly The money I have advanced to my daughter Edith viz five hundred and twenty pounds is to be deducted from her share of the proceeds in the disposition of my shares or property. Eighthly I constitute W M Cox and Miss Alice Otridge to be Executor and Executrix of this my will and hereby revoking a former will and do declare this only to be my last will and testament set my hand this ninth day of November one thousand eight hundred and eighty five - William Otridge Signed by the said William Otridge the testator in the presence of us present at the same time who have herewith subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the said testator and of each other - George Gooden 25 Bridge Road - Thomas Hanks 57 Cambridge Road Hammersmith On the 16th April 1887 Probate of this Will was granted to William Watkins Cox and Alice Otridge Spinster the Executors.
