Will of Simon Oatridge 1685 Source: w1: Archdeaconry of Wilts Wills. (1284) A/W Will Transcript: Archdeaconry of Wilts dated 31 Jan 1684/5 Simon OATRIDGE of Hyam Park Parish of Wesport Wilts yeoman son of Simon of Garsdon. Died 21 Apr 1685 aged 63. Proved. 27 Oct 1685. Summary only: .....First I give and commend my soule to God that gave it hopeing to be saved by the merits of Jesus Christ and my body to be buried in Christian burial according to the discretion of my executors hereinafter named. And as to my worldly goods I give and bequeathe of as follows. Item I give and bequeathe unto Katherine my daughter the sum of one hundred pounds to be payed at her day of marriage or within twelve months after my decease or a whichever of them shall first happen and upon her the said Katherine surrendering her right to certain copyholds in Charlton called Alexanders I hereby give her fifity pounds more... I intend desiring that my executors hereinafter named in the stead of her life shall put in the life of my son Nathaniel in the said coppyholds in Charlton called Alexanders and that at the costs and charges of my said executors. And my will is that if my said executors do undersell or neglect or refuse to put in the said Nathaniel's life in these copyholds and my daughter Katherine...... (damaged and portion missing)...... within twelve months after my decease that my executors shall give unto my said son Nathaniel the sum of one hundred pounds in lieu thereof. Item I give and bequeathe unto Mary another of my daughters the sum of two hundred pounds to be payd her within tweleve months after my decease. Item I give unto Henry my son the sum of four pounds. Item All the rest of my goods chattels rights credits stock and personal estate and goods not hereby before bequeathed I give bequeathe and devise unto Cicilly my loving wife and Symon my eldest son who I hereby make executors of this my last will and testament.
