Will of Richard Otrudge 6 Jan 1601/2 

In the name of God Amen the vi th day of January in the year of our lord god one  thousand six hundred and one and in the xliiii th year of the Raigne of our Soveraigne  Ladye Elizabeth by the grace of god of England France and Ireland Quene Defender 

of the faythe. I Richard Otrudge of Chipping Sodbury in the County of Glouc  butcher being sicke in body but of p[er]fect memorye Thanks be to god Do make this  my last will and Testament in manner & forme following Imprimis I do give and 

bequeath my soule into the hands of Almightye god my maker and Redemer And my  bodye to be buryed in the Churchyard of Chipping Sodbury aforesayd. Item I do give  and bequeath unto John Otrudge my sonne five pounds of good and lawful monye of  England  Item I give and bequeath unto Edith my Daughter the lyke some of five 

pounds and one sheete of Dowlesse. Item I do give and bequeath unto Agnes  Otrudge and Mary Otrudge my Daughters to eche of them the lyke some of five  pounds. Item I give and bequeath unto the said Edith and Agnes my Daughters 

seven [Pylstowes] to be equally devided between them by the discrecion of my  overseers or one of them. Item I give and bequeath unto Mawde Fry (myne Ante)  x s. Item I give and bequeath unto Ales Hill my mother in law x s. Item all the Rest 

of my goods and Chattales moveable and unmoveable and unbequeathed I do give and  bequeath unto Elizabeth my wief whom I make my whole Executrix of this my last  will and Testament to Receive and take all such Debts w[hi]ch are owing to me  to  pay all such debts w[hi]ch I owe and to see me honestly brought to my grave. And I 

do ordayne and appoynt my Unkle Thomas Burnell of Yate gentleman and Robert  Warm of Chipping Sodbury to be the overseers of this my last will and Testament And  my will also is that my brother Anthonye Otrudge shall have the keeping and bringing 

up of two of my cliildren that is to say Agnes & Edith together with theyre legacyes  And the other two that is to saye John and Marye wth theyre porcons of legacies  shalbe in the keeping of my unkle Thomas Burnell yf it would please hym to take  them. Witnesses to this my last will & Testament are those whose names are 

subscribed.
