Will of John Otteridge 1776 

In the Name of God Amen I John Otteridge belonging to his Majesty's Ship Buckingham Isaac ??  Durry Esq Commander being of sound and disposing mind and memory do hereby make my last 

Will and Testament first and principally I commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God  hoping for absolution? of all my Sins through the Spirit? of Jesus Christ my Lord Saviour and  Redeemer and my Body to the Earth or Sea as it shall pelase God and for such worldly estate  and effects which I shall be possessed of or entitled unto at the time of my decease I give and 

bequeath this ??? as followeth that is to say unto my well beloved Mother Sarah Otteridge of  Westbury in Wiltshire or in case of her decease to my Brother William Otteridge all and singular  such sum or sums of money as now or hereafter shall ??? due to me for said ship or any ship or 

vessel whatsoever and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said mother Sarah  Otteridge Executrix or in case of her decease my said Brother William Otteridge Executor of this  my last Will and Testament and I give and bequeath unto my said mother Sarah Otteridge or in 

case of her decease my said Brother William Otteridge all the rest and residue of my Estate  whatsoever both real and personal hereby ??? and making void all other and former Wills by me  heretofore made and ??? this to be my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have  hereunto set my hand and seal this fourth day of November in the Year of Our Lord one 

thousand seven hundred and seventy two and in the thirteenth year of the Reign of our  Sovereign Lord George the Thid by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King  Defender of the Faith - John Otteridge - his mark - signed sealed and declared by the said John 

Oteridge as and for his last Will and Testament in th presence of us who have hereunto  subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the Testator I F Durry & James Smith
