Will of John Oatridge 1809 (1435) Consistory Court of Canterbury 1809 PRC 32/68/135 Copy of will in Probate Book: This is the last Will and Testament of me John Oatridge Mariner of the Town Deal in the County of Kent which I do make Publish and declare as follows that is to say I Give and Devise unto my Mother Mary Oatridge and my Brother Thomas Oatridge all and every my Messuages Lands Tenements Hereditaments situate and being at Deal in the County of Kent and all and all other my Real Estates whatsoever and wheresoever with their and every of their Appurtenances To hold the same unto and the use of my said Mother Mary Oatridge and my said Brother Thomas Oatridge their Heirs and Assigns for ever In Trust that they or the Survivor of them or the Heirs of each Survivor do and shall with all convenient speed after my decease sell and dispose of the same Hereditaments and every part thereof in such manner as they shall think proper and shall after deducting all necessary and reasonable Costs Charges and Expenses which shall be ????? so or attend such Sale retain pay distribute and divide the Monies which shall arise or be produced from such sale unto and between themselves my said Mother and Brother and my Nephew and Niece William and Mary Oatridge the Children of my late Brother William Oatridge deceased in equal Shares and proportions and in Case either of them my said Nephew or Niece shall die before he or she shall attain the Age of Twenty one years then Give and Bequeath the part or share of him or her so Dying unto the Survivor of them my said Nephew and Niece and in and in Case my Nephew and Niece shall and I hereby declare and direct that the Receipt of my said Mother Mary Oatridge and Brother Thomas Oatridge or the Survivor of them or of the Heirs of good and valid and sufficient aquitance and Discharges of all or any part of my said Estates hereby directed to be sold for all or any part of the Money to be by him or them paid for the same or so much thereof as in such Receipt or Receipts respectively shall be acknowledged to be received and that the Person or Persons respectively who shall become purchases shall not after paying his her or their said purchase Money to my said Mother and Brother be answerable or accountable for the misapplication or nonapplication of the same or any part thereof and in Case my Nephew or Niece shall depart this life then the above return to my Mother or Brother or theirs Heirs and in Case my Mother or Brother so dying then bequeath the share of him or her unto the survivor of them my said Mother and Brother All my just Debts and Funeral Expenses being first paid and satisfied by my Executrix and Executor hereinafter named And do hereby nominate and appoint my said Mother Mary Oatridge and my said Brother Thomas Oatridge Executor and Executrix of this my Will hereby revoking all former Wills and other Wills and Codicils by me at any time heretofore made In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the Third day of September One thousand Eight and Nine.... John Oatridge Signed Sealed and Published and Declared by the said John Oatridge the Testator as and for his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our Names as Witnesses John White Samuel Turvy Probate Statement: The before registered Will of John Oatridge deceased was Proved the Seventeenth Day of December 1811 before the Reverend John Francis Clerk Surrogate to the Right Honorable Sir William Scott Knight Doctor of Laws Commissary General of the City and Diocese of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oaths of Mary Oatridge the Widow the Mother and Thomas Oatridge the Brother the Executors named in the said Will They being first sworn will and truly to perform the same..Updated on 16 Mar 2006
