Will of Henry Oatridge 1746 Source: w5: Prerogative Court of Canterbury Wills. (1229) PCC Will Transcript (No copy of document) HENRY OATRIDGE OF EASTCOURT IN PARISH CRUDWELL CO. WILTS gentleman. PCC dated 10 March 1746 Proved 10 DEC 1747. by oath of Nathaniel Body Transcript of Will (PRO Ref PROB11/758): In The Name Of God Amen I Henry Oatridge Of Eastcourt In The Parish Of Crudwell in the Co. of Wilts gentleman being in a tolerable state of health in body & of sound & disposing mind & memory thanks be to God therefore do make & publish this my last will & testament in manner & form following that is to say I Give unto my Godson Henry Oatridge Son of Mr Daniel Oatridge of Parish of Tetbury 10 pounds to buy him a piece of plate and I Give unto Mrs Katherine Body daughter of Mr Nathaniel Body late of Tetbury aforesaid deceased 40 pounds and I Give unto Mrs Anne Body daughter of Mr Giles Body late of Tetbury deed 10 pounds & each of these legacies to be paid at the end of I year next after my decease. I Devise unto the said Katherine Body 1 annuity yearly rent or sum of 20 pounds payable out of all my Messuages Cottages Closes Lands & Tenements whatsoever in Westwood in Co. Wilts .for the term of her natural life (subject to the provisions hereinafter named) on the usual feasts or times of payment in the year that is to say on the feast days of Saint Michael the Archangell & the Annunciation of the blessed Virgin Mary by even portions without any deductions for any taxes. If the payments be behind & unpaid by the space of 20 days then it shall be lawful for the said Katherine Body to enter upon my said Messuages etc & distrain for the said annuity of 20 pounds & the distress there found to take away until such distress shall be fully satisfied. I Give & Bequeath unto Nathaniel Body of Tetbury aforesaid gentleman son of the said Giles Body all & every my said Messuages Cottages Closes Lands & Tenements with their appurtenances being in Westwood aforesaid & all my right title term of years to come & interest in the same together with the lease thereof to hold unto the same Nathaniel Body his executors administrators. & assigns to & for his & their own proper use subject nevertheless to the payment of the said annuity of 20 pounds to Katherine Body in manner aforesaid & whereas by indenture bearing date 21 October 1743 The Honorable Philip Yorke Esq. & the Most Honorable Jemima Marchioness Grey the wife of the said Philip Yorke for the consideration therein did lease & to farm lett unto me all that Capital Messuage in Eastoourt in Co. Wilt & divers closes lands & tenements with the appurtenances in the same indenture particularly mentioned to hold to me my Executors Administrators. & assigns from & immediately after the Expiration or other determination of the Copyhold Estate & interest of me & Mary Morgan therein named for & during & unto the full end & term of 99 years from thence next ensuing & fully to be compleat & ended if Daniel Oatridge the third son of Mr Daniel Oatridge of Duson in the Co.Glouc. aged 10 yrs shall so long live & by the said Indenture being had may more fully appear now i do hereby give & bequeath the said capital messuage & lands etc unto the said Katherine Body to hold the same unto her & her assigns shall continue & immediately after her decease I give the same unto Simon Oatridge the son of the said Daniel of Duson to hold to the said Simon & his assigns during all the residue then to come & in the said recited term of 4 score & nineteen years provided always that during so long time only as the said Katherine Body shall become entitled & be possessed of the said Messuage etc the said annuity of 20 pounds herein before to her given shall cease . and i give unto the said Nathaniel Body son of the said Giles all my plate & linnon and i give unto my sister the said Mary Morgan the reasonable use & occupation of all my household goods furniture & implements of household exclusive of the said plate & linnon for & during the term of 60 years if she shall happen to live AND from & after her decease the same reasonable use & occupation of the same unto the said Katherine Body for the term of 60years if she shall happen to live and from & after her decease the same to Nathaniel Body son of the said Giles the same goods to hold for ever the rest & residue of my goods chattels credits & personal estate of what nature so ever not yet disposed of i give to the said Nathaniel Body & I appoint him Sole Executor. And I give all my woollen wearing apparel of all sorts to such servant man or men as shall be living with me at the time of my decease. I give all my linnon wearing apparel of all sorts to such Servant Maid or Maids as shall be living with me at the time of my decease. Dated 10 March 1746 Signed Henry Oatridge. Witnesses J.
