Will of Anthony Oatridge 1797

In the name of God Amen I Anthony Oatridge if Basingstoke in the County of Southampton  Yeoman being of Sound Mind Memory and Understanding but Mindful of my mortality do make  Publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say 

First I order and direct all my Just Debts Funeral and Testamentary Expenses to be paid and  discharged by my Executors herein after named as soon as conveniently may be after my  Decease. 

I Give and Bequeath to my Son in Law John KENT of Basingstoke in the County of Southampton  Baker and my friend James WARNE of the same place Gentleman and the survivor of them and  the Executors and Administrators of such Survivor All my Household Goods Furniture Monies 

and Securities for Money as well in the Public Funds elsewhere and Personal Estate whatsoever  and wheresoever Upon Trust to sell and dispose of collect and get in the same and to invest the  Money arising therefrom in some or one of the Public Funds of this Kingdom in the Names of 

them the said John KENT and James WARNE or the survivor of them or the Executors or  Administrators of such survivor upon the Funds and to and for the Uses Intents and purposes  herein after declared of and concerning the same (that is to say) Upon Trust that they do and  shall apply the Dividends and Interest of the said Securities so as aforesaid to be purchased or 

so much of the same Interest and Dividends as shall in the discretion of my said Trustees or the  Survivor of them or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor be thought proper and  necessary in and upon the maintenance and education of my Grand daughter Elizabeth Kent 

until she shall attain the age of Twenty one years and when and as soon as my said Grand  daughter shall attain the said Age of Twenty one years then upon trust to pay Assign and  Transfer the Funds and Securities in which the said Money shall have been so invested together  with the Surplus of the said Dividends and Interest if any unto my said Grand daughter. And in 

Case my said Grand daughter shall happen to die before she shall attain her age of Twenty one  years then I direct that the said Funds and Securities in which the said Money shall (end of page

(page 2) have been so invested and Surplus of the said Dividends and Interest shall be paid  Assigned and Transferred to the said John Kent for his own use and benefit if he shall be living  at that time but if he shall happen to be Dead then to and amongst all my first Cousins and the 

first Cousins of my late beloved Wife Elizabeth equally share and share alike. And I do hereby  Nominate Constitute and appoint the said John Kent and James Warne Executors of this my last  Will and Testament hereby revoking and making Void all former and other Wills by me at any 

time heretofore made and I do declare these Presents only ro be and contain my last Will and  Testament. 

In Witness whereof I the said Anthony Oatridge the Testator have to this my last Will and 

Testment written on two sheets of Paper to the first Sheet set my Hand and to the last Sheet my 

Hand and Seal the Twenty Eighth day of October in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven  hundred and Ninety Seven.  (signed) Anthoney Oatridge 

Signed Sealed Published and declared  by the said Testator Anthoney Oatridge as  and for his last Will and Testament in  the presence of us who at his request 

in his presence and in the presence of  each other Subscribed our Names as  Witnesses thereto 

Thos Sheppard  Wm Warne 

On the fifth Day of June 1806 John Kent and James Warne the within named Executors were 

duly sworn to the within Will before me And the said John Kent and James Warne further made  Oath that the Goods Chattels and Credits of the within named Anthony Oatridge did not amount  in value to One Hundred and forty Pounds at the time of his decease as they believed.
