Diocese Of Gloucester Consistory Court Wills 1721 - 1725 Anne Oatridge (367) In the Name of God Amen I Anne OATRIDGE Of Buttlers Court in the parish of Lechlade in the County of Gloucs Spinster being of Sound and disposing mind and memory (thanks be to God) to make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following Imprimis I will that my Body be interred in a plain and decent manner by my Executor hereinafter named Under my Seat in the parish Church of Lechlade aforesaid (if it may be). Item I give and bequeath to the poor of Lechlade aforesaid the sum of ten pounds. to be distributed amongst them by my Executor and my Nephew Mr Robert BATHURST in such manner as they shall think fitt within one month next after my decease. Item I Give and bequeath to my Loving Sister Mrs Elizabeth Powell the sum of ten pounds and also my black cloth gown. Item I Give to My Loving Sister Mrs Sarah Minchin the sum of ten pounds and also my great Bible Item I Give to my nephews Thomas Minchin Robert Minchin and John Minchin sons of my said sister Minchin the sum of ten pounds apiece. Item I give to my Nephew Mr Robert Bathurst the sum of fifty pounds And to my Nephew Mr Edmund Bathurst I give the sum of ten pounds. (sons of sister Margaret) Item I give to my Nephew Mr Thomas Morgan the sum of ten pounds (son of sister Meriam) Item I give to my niece Mrs Elizabeth Sawridge the sum of ten pounds Item I Give to my niece Mrs Jane Wood the sum of ten pounds Item I give to my nephew Mr Charles Doyley and to my niece his wife the sum of ten pounds apiece (husband of sister Elizabeth's daughter Elizabeth) Item I give to Mrs Phoebe Pennell of Water Eaton the sum of ten pounds Item In Case my servant maid Catherine Griffin shall be living with me as such at the time of my decease then I Give to here the sum of ten pounds And all my brass goods (except my furnace my sconce and my best pair of candlesticks) And also I give to the said Catherine Griffin my Great Chest in My Parlor Chamber And also my best bedstead bedding chaises stools and other furniture whatsoever being in and belonging to my Chamber over my Hall (other than and except my Chest of Drawers there). And also to the said Catherine Griffin I give all my wearing Apparell whatsoever not hereinbefore disposed of but my will is that all the said legacies by me given to the said Catherine Griffin shall be void in Case she shall not be living with me at the time of my decease and aforesaid Item I give to my Kinswoman Mrs Mary Oatridge sister of my Executor my Chest Of Drawers in my said Hall Chamber. And I do hereby declare my will to be that my Executor hereinafter named shall pay all the Legacies by me hereinbefore given respectively within six months next after my decease but in Case any of the said Legatees shall happen to die before then my will is the Legacies of such who shall so happen to die shall go to my Executor and ??? Item I give to my Kinswoman Mrs Margarett Scambler widow One Annuity of yearly sum of Ten pounds over and above All taxes and deductions whatsoever to be paid to her by my Executor hereinafter named by half yearly payments to be computed from the time of my decease for and during the term of her natural life. And for the ???? serving the payment of the said Annuity I do hereby charge all and Singular my lands tenements and heridatements in the Parish of Lechlade aforesaid or elsewhere in the Said County of Gloucs. Item Whereas I Am Now Possessed and Entitled to a Certain Capital Messuage tenement or farm house commonly called or known by the name of Buttlers Court where I now live inhabit and dwell standing and being in Lechlade aforesaid And of all yards orchards gardens ??? Inclosed grounds -- arable Land Layes Meadows ???? pastures feedings commons and hereditaments to whatsover in Lechlade aforesaid in the said County of Gloucs or also wheretofor with the ??? hold life occupied ??? or enjoyed for and during the remainder of a certain term Of one thousand years therein not to come and unexpired And whereas it is my intention to settle the same and every part hereof (charged ???? as aforesaid) to my kinsman Henry Oatridge of Water Eaton and his Heirs of his body lawfully to be begotten And for want of his issue that the same may remain to his brothers Simon and Daniel Oatridge and their heirs Males respectively in manner as is hereinafter mentioned to the intent that the same Capital Messuage and Premises may remain and continue in the name of the Oatridges of that family for so long time of the remainder of the said term of 1 000 years As it shall please ?? to continue the same name and family to which ??? ??? devise unto my said Kinsman Henry OATRIDGE All and Singular my said Capital Messuage tenement or farm house ??? called and known by the name of Buttler's Court And all buildings yards orchards gardens ??? Inclosed grounds arable Lands ???? Meadows ???? pastures floodings ????? and hereditaments whatsoever in Lechlade aforesaid in the said County of Gloucs or elsewhere for or with the said Messuage ?? occupied ??? or enjoyed And all my Estate from and interest therein To hold to him the said Henry Oatridge and the heirs Male of the body lawfully to be begotten And in ??? there shall be no ???? Male of the body of the said Henry Oatridge Living at the time of the decease then I Give devise and bequeath All and Singular the said Messuage tenement or farm house and premises of every part thereof unto such of them the said Simon and Daniel Oatridge and the Heirs Male in such manner and to the said Henry Oatridge by any deeds writing or writings to be by him duly ??? under the hands of seal attested by two or more credible witnesses or by his last Will and Testament in ??? to do by him duly Executed and attested as aforesaid shall limit divert or appoint the same And for want of such direction limitation or appointment as aforesaid then I give and devise all the same premises to him the said Simon Oatridge and the heirs Males of the body lawfully begotten and to be begotten And from and after the decease of the said Simon Oatridge and failure of the Heirs of Male of the body In Case All the now rest and residue of the said term of one thousand years shall not be then ??? out expired then I give devise All the said Messsuage and premises and every part thereof to him the said Daniel Oatridge and the Heirs Male of his Body lawfully begotten and to be begotten And from and after the decease of the said Daniel Oatridge and failure of the Heirs of Male of the body In Case All the now rest and residue of the said term of one thousand years shall not be then ??? out expired then I give devise All the said Lands and Premises and every part thereof unto the Heirs and Assigns of the said Henry Oatridge for all the residue of the said term of one thousand years which shall then to come and unexpired Item I do hereby make constitute and appoint my said Kinsman Henry Oatridge sole and whole Executor of this my Will And to him I give All and Singular my monies and chattels residue and personal estate whatsoever not hereinbefore disposed off the paying my debts Legacies and funeral expenses and lastly I do hereby revoke All former and other Wills by me made And do declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand And seal the seventh day of August in the Ninth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George by the Grace of God of Great Britain ??? and ??? and King Defender of the Faith ?? ??? ?? 1722 signed Anne Oatridge This will continued in Three Sheets or pieces of paper was sealed published and declared by the within named Anne Oatridge the Testatrix As and for here last and testament And each of the said Sheets or pieces of paper was by her first signed in the presence of us who subscribed our names as witness to the same in the presence of the said Testatrix Charles ARKEWELL Robert GEARING William HORNE A Codicil to be annexed to my last Will and Testament within written. I the within named Anne Oatridge the testatrix do hereby direct that my Kinsman Henry Oatridge within named shall have power and may limit All or any part or parts of the Capital Messuage or tenement Lands and hereditaments within ??? and or in trust for the life and benefit of such wife or wives he shall happen to marry for and during so many years of the term of the one thousand years within ??? as such wife or wives shall happen to live after the decease of him the said Henry Oatridge ??? living ???? in the within written will to the >>>> not withstanding And I do hereby will and desire that the present Codicil be taken as part of my said Will in ??? whereof have hereunto set my hand and seal the day of the date of my will within written ?? after the ??? of the same signed Anne Oatridge The above written Codicil was signed sealed published by the said Anne Oatridge in the presence of us who subscribed our names and witnessed in her presence WITNESSED by ARKEWELL GEARING and HORNE Probate Statement in Latin dated Aug 1723.Updated on 16 Mar 2006
