His household included his 2nd wife, Nancy C., 50, and children Benjamin E., 50, and Polley, 38, from his first marriage, plus children Elen L., 21, Laura F., and Edwin H., from his 2nd marriage. Name on census: Daniel Beedy. Daniel died in 1864 at the age of 80 in Industry, Franklin, Maine.192 Daniel settled in Industry, Maine on the Lowell strip. Industry was apple and other fruit country. According to an elderly BEEDY descendant, the BEEDY's had all their buildings under one roof ... i. e. first the house, next the well house and on down to the barn; supposedly because of the severe winters. He was a Captain in command of the Industry Company of Militia called out during the War of 1812. When he entered the army, he changed the spelling of his name from BEEDE to the American spelling of BEEDY. Soon after 1812, he sold out and moved to Plantation #6, also called Berlin and later annexed to Phillips. When he moved, he followed a spotted trail. Selecting a good, suitable location, he began clearing and by unflagging industry, cleared a good farm and reared a large family. Captain Daniel BEEDY III and Mary "Polly" EVELETH were married on 12 February 1807. Mary "Polly" EVELETH193,194, daughter of James EVELETH and Betsey WILLIAMS, was born on 31 March 1786 in Industry, Lincoln, Massachusetts.190 She appeared in the census in 1810 in Industry, Somerset, Massachusetts. She is probably the female age 16-25 in Daniel's household. She appeared in the census in 1820 in Township E, Oxford, Maine. She is probably the female age 26-44 in Daniel's household. Polly died on 31 October 1831 at the age of 45.190 She was buried at Beedy Cemetery in Weld, Franklin, Maine.184 [The stone says "wife of Col. Daniel, d. 1832"] The GF Beede book says her name was Polly but her son Daniel's obituary said her name was Mary. Her brother Frederick married Eunice Pratt and moved to a farm adjoining Captain Daniel Beede.
