First Settlers of Staten Island, Richmond County, New York

This tabulation is important since many of the same families, or their children, or other affiliates, or relatives by marriage, removed from Staten Island and became, before 1714, First Settlers of New Jersey.

The following list is incomplete as no attempt has been made to make it all inclusive.

The sources of this list of First Settlers of Staten Island, are, or course, the original records, existing at Albany and New York City, patent, land, and deed, etc. and certain printed authorities, such as the histories of Staten Island, viz. Clute (1877), Bayles (1997), Stillwell, N.Y. Hist. Coll., particularly Abstracts of Wills, vols. I and II, and other sources.
