Cornelius Norwood
WARNING:  For research purposes only!!  I have reason to believe that there may be errors in this info.  Possibly including some major ones involving lineage.

Cornelius Norwood  was b. bet. 1770 - 1780 in New Jersey, and d. aft. 1830 possibly in Acquackanonk, Essex Co, NJ.  On November 18, 1802 in Acquackanonk, Essex Co, NJ,  he m. Elizabeth "Betsy" White, who was b. bet. 1780 - 1790 in New Jersey, and d. aft. 1830, possibly in Acquackanonk, Essex Co, NJ.  They may have had some or all of the following children:

Richard Norwood was b. abt. 1803 in Acquackanonk, Essex Co, NJ and d. bef. October 26, 1883 in Montclair, Essex Co, NJ.  On August 16, 1825, possibly in Essex Co, NJ, he m. (1) Ann Morrow, who was b. abt. 1805, possibly in New Jersey, and d. bet. 1835 -1850 possibly in New Jersey.  Bet. 1835 - 1850 possibly in New Jersey, he m. (2) Mary Ann Weeks, who was b. abt. 1814 in New Jersey and d. bet. 1860 -1870 possibly in Montclair, Essex Co, NJ.

George Norwood was b. abt. 1805 in New Jersey and d. aft. 1830, possibly in Saddle River, Bergen Co, NJ.   He m. ?, who was b. bet. 1880 - 1810.  According to the 1830 census they had at least two daughters but I have so far been unable to find a trace of this family after that census.

Elias Norwood was b. abt. 1809 in New Jersey and d. aft. 1870, possibly in Newark, Essex Co, NJ.  Bef. 1830, possibly in New Jersey, he m. Rachel (surname?), who was b. abt. 1810 in New Jersey and d. bet. 1860 - 1870 possibly  in Newark, Essex Co, NJ.  They had four known children:  Ellen, Esther, Theodore and Elizabeth.

William Norwood was b. May 27, 1811 in Brookdale, Essex Co, NJ.  No further info found.

Margaret Norwood was b. July 27, 1813 in Bloomfield, Essex Co, NJ and d. abt January 1862, possibly in Bloomfield, Essex Co, NJ.  Abt. 1830 in Bloomfield, Essex Co, NJ, she m. Ira Crane, who was b. May 24, 1808 in Cranetown, Essex Co, NJ, and d. December 30, 1868, possibly in Bloomfield, Essex Co, NJ.  They had three known children:  Jarvis, Angeline and Israel.

Rachel Norwood was b. January 26, 1818 in New Jersey and d. October 29, 1864, possibly in Caldwell, Essex Co, NJ.  Abt. 1836, possibly in New Jersey, she m. Jotham P. Williams, who was b. abt 1814, possibly in New Jersey, and d. aft 1850, possibly in Manchester, Passaic Co, NJ.  They had three known children:  Anna, Harriet and Emma.

Notes:
First, let me start by saying what I know for sure about this family.  One, we have record of the marriage of Cornelius Norwood and Elizabeth "Betsy" White in the Acquackanonk Reformed Dutch Church of Acquackanonk, Essex Co, NJ that gives us date and location for that event.  Two, we have record of the baptism of their son William Norwood in the Stone House Plains Reformed Dutch Church of Brookdale, Essex Co, NJ that gives us date and location for that event.  That's it.  All the rest of the info shown here is pure speculation based on what I would consider to be some the thinnest of evidence.

Cornelius and Elias are listed on the same 1830 census page for Acquackanonk, Essex Co, NJ.
Richard and George are listed on the same 1830 census page for Saddle River, Bergen Co, NJ.
Richard's children are named in a pattern consistent with having parents named Cornelius and Elizabeth.
Margaret has the correct birth date to work as a female child listed in the 1830 census for Cornelius.
Rachel is buried across from Richard and has the correct birth date to work as a female child listed in the 1830 census for Cornelius.

And last but not least, using the process of elimination, none of these people fit with what's known about any of the other Norwood families we know about by names, dates or locations.  They do however, all have birth dates that fit with being children of Cornelius and Elizabeth.  Plus they're all in the right places at the right time.

All of these people require a lot more source documentation!  What you see here is currently only a theory that I'm working with to help me as I research.  At this time, please do not consider this list to be any more than several people with Norwood names that may or may not be connected somehow.
