Notes:
Some of the previous has been extracted from info reportedly taken from a family bible.  I only have a photocopy of a handwritten copy and not an actual photocopy of the bible page, so consider that there may be possible transcription errors.

The available New Jersey census records start in 1830, the previous years having been destroyed.  Richard is listed in Saddle River, Bergen Co, NJ in 1830, but I haven't been able to locate him in 1840.

This seems to be a bit confusing.  I now believe the Richard was married twice, but I've so far been unable to locate a record for either marriage nor an exact death date for Anne Morrow.  Because of this, we can not say for sure who is the mother of the Anna Norwood listed in the bible.  However, this might explain the 10 year gap between Elizabeth and Anna's births recorded in the bible, if Mary Ann Weeks is her mother and not Anna Morrow.  But then there's other questions.  What about the other children listed in the census?  Are they Mary Ann's by a previous marriage or relationship, or were they somehow missed in the bible?  And what about the surname Hopper listed for Susan and Anna in 1860, does this prove them not to be Norwoods?  Then why was Anna recorded in the bible?  Does this mean that the Martha listed in 1850 is also a Hopper and not a Norwood?

Here we have another question.  Who is this Maria Norwood?  She is listed as "Aunt" in the census, born in England, with parents born in England.  With such a significant age difference between her and Richard, and with her parents being born in England and not New jersey as are Richard's parents, the only explanation I can come up with is that she was married to one of Richard's so far unknown brothers.  However, the census also lists her as single, not married, not widowed.

Richard's probate records of 1883 provide little in the way of clues to his descendants.  Only one person is directly named, that being Elizabeth Jacobus, the married name of his daughter.
