FINLAY - William
= The funeral of William Finlay of 10 St Anne Street, who had been a resident of Ridgewood Veteran's Wing for the past 10 months, was held from Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Church St to St Joachim's Church where funeral mass was celebrated by Rev. D. P. Brian Hansen. Pallbearers were Peter Finlay, John Finlay, Gregory Finlay, Tony Finlay, Roger Finlay, and Andrew Pettifer, all grandsons of Mr. Finlay. (Among the donations were ... 26th Battalion Overseas Club ...) Interment took place in St. Joseph's Cemetery with prayers at the grave by Father Hansen. (#2,TJ)

FINLEY - Hugh W (Mr. & Mrs.)
= Mr. & Mrs. Hugh W. Finlay, of Saint John recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at an At Home given by their children, Lorraine Stasio of Revere, MA; Hugh Finlay, Lynn, MA; and Donald of Hampton, VA. The couple were married in Saint John on Oct 29, 1927. They made their home for 46 yrs in Beachmont, Revere, MA. They have 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Special congradulations were sent by the President of the United States. (#2,TJ)

FINLEY - Robert C.
= Died 10 Nov 1973, Robert C. Finley (unexpectedly/at home) husband of  the late Vera (Carlin). Of 238 Montreal Ave., West (Saint John).  b. in Saint John, s/o late Charles & Margaret (Sagee) Finley. A life-long res. of Saint John, he was employed with the CPR for 30 years as a section man, retiring in 1972. He was a member of First Baptist Church, a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way, Local No 184. In his younger years he was an ardent sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by two sons, Kenneth E. and Cecil C., both of  Saint John; two daughters, Mrs. Reginald Holden (Shirley), and Mrs. Albert Fudge, (Kathleen), both of Saint John; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
    The body is resting at the Castle Funeral Home, (Fallsview), 309 Lancaster Ave, where services will be held Wed. at 2 pm. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.  Visiting from 2 to 9:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. (#2,TJ)

FITZ SIMMONS - Ruth A. (Mrs. Robert)
    At the Saint John Regional Hospistal, Jan 19, 1983, Mrs. Ruth A. Fitzsimons of 56 Pitt Street, Saint John, wife of Robert
Fitzsimons; survived by her husband, one son, her father, three brothers, three sisters, one grandson, several nieces and nephews.
    Resting at Reid's Funeral Home, 343 Main Street, Hampton. The funeral will be held Saturday from the funeral home chapel with services at 2 pm.  Rev. Stanley Sears will officiate. Interment in Hampton Rural Cemetery. Visiting Thursday from 7 to 9 pm, Friday 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. (#1/TJ)

FITZ SIMMONS - Ruth
= Ruth Fitzsimmons, w/o Robert Fitzsimmons, Saint John, d. at Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at New Jerusalem, Queens County, a daughter of Ralph Harrison and the late Sybil (Hamilton) Harrison, she was a resident of Saint John for the last 30 years. She was employed with the New Brunswick branch of the Canadian Red Cross Society. She was a member of Centenary Square United Church and of the Ladies Auxiliary, Branch 14, Royal Canadian Legion.
   Surviving beside her husband and father are one son Robert, Jr., Toronto; three brothers, Kenneth, Gagetown; Clive, Hampton and Clarence, Acamac; three sisters, Verna, Mrs. Malcolm Webb, Sussex; Marion Harrison, Hampton and Shirley, Mrs. Lloyd Douglas, Truro, N.S.; one grandson and several nieces and nephews.
   The funeral service was held at Reid's Funeral Home chapel, Hampton. Rev. Stanley Sears, minister at Centenary United Church, officiated. The organist was Shirley Cooper and the soloist, Joyce Thorne.    Pallbearers were Clive, Kenneth, Clarence and Richard Harrison and Lloyd Douglas and Malcolm Webb. FLEWELLING - Rosella E. (Mrs. O.E.)
    Oak Point, March 14 - (Special) he funeral service of Mrs. Rosella E. Flewelling, widow of Capt. O.E. Flewelling was held on Saturday afternoon at St John's United Church, here with Rev. Howard Christie officiating, assisted by Rev. F. H. Littlejohns. Mrs. Flewelling's favourite hymns were sung.  Among the flora tributes were those from the Ladies Aid and Women's Institute and Victory l.o.b.a. No. 111.  The pallbearers were Fred Nutter, Faulds Jones, Leslie Brundage, Cogswell Hamilton, Henry Kirk and Stanley Patterson.  Prayers at the grave were read by Rev. R.E.J. Britton and interment was made in St Paul's cemetery beside her husband, the former captain of the river steamer Majestic, who
died in 1943.
    Mrs. Flewelling died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.A. Simpson, New Jerusalem.
    She was the daughter of the late A.E. and Sarah Whelpley, Central Greenwich, makers of the celebrated "Long Reach" skates. She was born at Dartmouth, NS, in 1872 and moved to Central Greenwich two years later.  In 1888 the family moved to California where Mrs. Flewelling resided until her marriage to Capt. Flewelling when they returned to New Brunswick and made their home at Oak Point.  Mrs. Flewelling was active in church and Sunday school work, being a member of St John's United Church, Oak Point.  She was prominent in the social life of the community and was affectionately known as "Aunt Rose."
    Mrs. Flewelling had been in failing health for some time and has made her home with her daughter.  She is survived by two sons, Ernest A. of Grimsby Beach, Ont., and Elmer G. of Saint John; two daughters, Mabel, wife of G.H. Patterson, Campbellton; and Dorothy, wife of W.A. Simpson. Five grandchildren, one great-grandchild also survive. (#/TJ)

FOWLER - Francis K.
= Francis K. Fowler - Brown's Flats, was electrocuted in front of his home when he and his brother George were working to extend a water pipe into his home. The pipe hit the wire and both were thrown to the ground. George received bad burns on his hands and one foot. George and a nurse, Mrs. Rogers of Brown's Flats applied artificial respiration until Dr. M. Jenkins arrived in hopes of reviving Francis K., but he was pronounced dead. Const. C. H. Gray (RCMP) investigated. He was aged 35 yrs; survived by his parents, Louis D. & Mary B. Fowler.  His wife and one son, DeForest Fowler, at home; and his brother, George. FRANCIS - Audrey K.
    At Norton, Kings Co, Sept 19, 1976, Audrey K. Francis, 79, of Apohaqui, Kings County and formerly of Armstrong's Corner, Queens County; survived by two sons, five grandsons, one grqanddaughter, four great-grandchildren, one brother, several nephews and nieces.
    Resting at her home at Apohaqui. The funeral service will be held from Silas James United Church, Apohaqui on Tuesday at 2 pm. Interment in Riverbank Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the United Church would be appreciated. (#1/T/J)

FRANCIS - Edward K.
= Edward K. Francis of Greenwich Hill, Kings Co (formerly of  Olinville, Queens Co, NB) died after a two weeks illness, aged 19 yrs.  Born at Olinville, s/o Kenneth G. & Ida (Mitchell) Francis. He attended the United Church, survived by his parents, 2 brothers; Earl & Raymond, both at home; 2 sisters, Inez & Judith, both at home.  Several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.  Funeral from Ross Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Lancaster (now St John West) to the United Church Cemetery, Brown's Flats. FRANCIS - Herbert Alonzo
= At the Kings Co Memorial Hospital, Sussex, 29 Jun 1971, Herbert Alonzo Francis of Apohaqui, in his 78th year.  Son of the late James & Martha Francis, Armstrong's Corner, Queens Co, NB, survived by his wife the former Audrey (Harrison) Francis, 2 sons, 6 grandchildren, 1 cousin, severs nieces and nephews. Resting at his home in Apohaqui from where the funeral will be held Thursday, 1 Jul at 11 am.  Interment in Riverbank Cemetery. (#1,TJ,?)
