Death: On Saturday the 13th of April at night at 12:00 our most beloved wife, mother, and sister Gertrud Hesse nee Gunterman, died at the age of 48. The interment takes place today (Tuesday) in the morning at 9:00 starting from St. Peter's Church in California. Relatives and friends are graciously invited by the sorrowing husband, seven children, and six siblings.

Note; The "California" referred to in the obituary is not the state, but a section of Louisville settled by the Germans around the time of the 1849 Gold Rush.
