Fintragh Bay is just west of the harbor at Killybegs. The quarter of Fintragh was owned by the Hamiltons from around 1607, and the family resided there through the following 3 centuries. Griffith's Valuation, done in 1857, shows Anne Hamilton as the owner. There used to be a hotel (or licensed premises) down near the strand (beach), and at the time of my 1991 visit there was a caravan camp there. This beautiful beach is now one of Ireland's "Blue Flag" beaches.
I've been told that 45 new houses are being built in the area.and that the old building is being made over into a new hotel.
Spelling Note: Since the maps say "Fintragh" I use that spelling except for the house, which is spelled "Fintra" on all the gravestones.
