- Topic: New Online Research Resources - Part I We'll kick off the this season with a good look at new Genealogy, Family, & History resources that have come online (or that have been extensively upgraded) within the last 6-8 months. Discover databases, new social networks, shareware/freeware utilities, etc. WThe offerings have grown extensively this last year so we'll split this topic into two sessions. Watch for Part II mid-winter. We'll also get some feedback from the various genealogical conferences this summer.

- Topic: Genealogy Volunteer Projects One of the best things about Genealogy is the social aspect of doing and sharing with others. Learn about the perks that accrue when jumping in with a team - help to further available research tools, do creative thinking to generate and work on educational programs and/or conferences, learn more for
yourself while helping others at local repositories. We'll explore online and local projects that range in scope from international records data entry to on-site opportunities in local repositories. - Topic: Preparing Online for the 1940 Census Release (April 2012) Every 10 years a new U. S. census is released (72 years after the census was taken). We're due in this NEW YEAR for the release of the 1940 census.
When initially released, there will be no quick index. This month's session covers the things that we can do NOW to prepare for the April opening of the census data. We'll touch on the tools, maps, and up-front research that can be done - online.
