Summertime Catch Up on Gen Conferences As promised last spring...stop by for an overview of new and revised features in Microsoft's latest operating system for Windows and the new tools, tricks, and must have features of MS-Office 2010. Not a Windows user? Come by anyway - we'll be looking at how to use word-processing and spreadsheet features to support your genealogy work.

- Topic: NOT! on the NET: Digital Research Resources in Local Repositories or for purchase on CD/DVD. Find out some of the great digital resources you can access ONLY at our local libraries, repositories, or available for purchase on CD-ROM/DVD.
Got a favorite database that everyone should know about - please bring a
description share and information on the repository where it can found. If
you forward a copy of the info to me in advance, we can set up a slide for
all to view and then post it to SIG website.

- Topic: GENEALOGY, GEOCODING, AND HISTORICAL MAPPING! Stop in for a good look at the NEW Google Earth 6 with HISTORICAL IMAGERY! Catch onto GEOCODING! Learn the tricks of using a GPS Log with your digital camera to document a cemetery. There's something for everyone from computer novice to software expert - and - from new researcher to professional genealogist.
NOTE: This is a change from the previously announced topic: "IPad, Kindle, Nook: Pros and Cons of new Hardware for Genealogists." Due to a scheduling conflict our presenter on this hardware topic has asked to postpone. We will reschedule and definitely get back around to covering these new technology tools.

- Topic: Web Design for Genealogy: Part 1 - Issues for the Digital Environment. Here's where we kick-off this year's multi-part program on putting Family information together for screen use (websites, projection,
presentations, video, etc.) Designing your communication for the
digital domain should reflect best practices for screen rather than print.
We'll start with a review of fonts and typefaces, think about interaction
and "useability", and introduce simple multimedia (video, sound,
animations) to "spiff up" a family website.
