Lawrence Family

                      Generation One

1.  William Lawrence; b. before 1638; m. Elizabeth Scudder, daughter
of John Scudder, 1693; d. 1704 at Middletown, Monmouth Co., NJ.
     He was deputy to the first Legislative Assembly of NJ in 1669.

     Known children of William Lawrence include:
                 i. James Lawrence; m. Mehitable Alburtis, daughter of
                    Jan Alburtis and Elizabeth Scudder.
                    He resided at Freehold, Monmouth Co., NJ.
     2.         ii. William Lawrence, b. 1658; m. Ruth Gibbons.
               iii. Benjamin Lawrence; b. 1664; d. 1755.
                    He resided at Upper Freehold, Monmouth Co., NJ.
     3.         iv. Elisha Lawrence, b. 17 Feb 1666; m. Lucy Stout.
                 v. Joseph Lawrence; b. 1670; m. Sarah Worth, daughter
                    of William Worth; m. Rachel Folke 16 Dec 1712; 2nd
                    husband.
                    He resided at Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co., NJ.
                vi. Hannah Lawrence; m. Joseph Grover; m. Nathaniel
                    Leonard 9 Jan 1694.
               vii. John Lawrence; b. 1668; m. Rachel; d. 1719.
                    He resided at Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co., NJ.

     Elizabeth Scudder married Jan Alburtis.


                      Generation Two

2.  William Lawrence (William1); b. 1658; m. Ruth Gibbons, daughter of
Richard Gibbons and Elizabeth, 24 Jun 1686; d. 1750 at Middletown
Twp., Monmouth Co., NJ.

     Known children of William Lawrence and Ruth Gibbons were as
follows:
                 i. William Lawrence; b. 5 Nov 1688; m. Mercy
                    Hartshorne, daughter of Richard Hartshorne and
                    Margaret Carr.
                    He resided at Middletown, Monmouth Co., NJ.
     4.         ii. Elizabeth Lawrence, b. 3 Dec 1690; m. William
                    Hartshorne.
               iii. Robert Lawrence; b. 25 Sep 1692.
                    He resided at Upper Freehold, Monmouth Co., NJ.
                iv. Richard Lawrence; b. 11 Jul 1694; m. Alice; d.
                    circa 1727.
                    He resided at Middlesex Co., NJ.
                 v. John Lawrence; b. 22 Aug 1696; m. Ann; d. before
                    1728.
                vi. Hannah Lawrence; m. Obadiah Herbert, son of
                    Francis Herbert, 1729.
               vii. Thomas Lawrence resided at Middletown, Monmouth
                    Co., NJ.
              viii. Mary Lawrence; b. 28 Dec 1698.

3.  Elisha Lawrence (William1); b. 17 Feb 1666; m. Lucy Stout; d. 27
May 1724 at Chestnut Grove, Upper Freehold, NJ, at age 58.
     He resided at Monmouth Co., NJ.

     Lucy Stout resided at Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co., NJ.

     Known children of Elisha Lawrence include:
                 i. John Lawrence; b. 28 Jan 1708/9; m. Mary
                    Hartshorne, daughter of William Hartshorne and
                    Helena Willett, 2 Nov 1738; d. 19 Jun 1795 at age
                    86.


                     Generation Three

4.  Elizabeth Lawrence (William2, William1); b. 3 Dec 1690; m. William
Hartshorne, son of Richard Hartshorne and Margaret Carr, between 1716
and 1718; 3rd wife; d. either Aug 1750 or 18 Apr 1751; bur. at
Hartshorne Burying Ground, Middletown, NJ.

     William Hartshorne was born 1mo 1678/79 at Monmouth Co., NJ. He
resided at Portland, Highlands, Monmouth Co., NJ. He resided at
Middletown, Monmouth Co., NJ. He married Catherine Bowne, daughter of
John Bowne; 1st wife. He married Helena Willett, daughter of Col.
Thomas Willett and Heiltie Elbertse Stoothoff, on 1 May 1713; 2nd
wife. He left a will on 25 Nov 1745; proved 10 Mar 1748. He died on 29
Feb 1747/48 at Middletown, Monmouth Co., NJ. He was buried at
Hartshorne Burying Ground, Middletown, NJ.
