1.  John Byrd; m. Grace Stegg, daughter of Thomas Stegge.
     He was a goldsmith. He and Grace Stegg resided at London,
England.

     Known children of John Byrd and Grace Stegg were:
     2.          i. Col. William Byrd, b. circa 1652; m. Mary
                    Horsmanden.


                          Generation Two

2.  Col. William Byrd (John1); b. circa 1652; m. Mary Horsmanden,
daughter of Col. Warham St. Leger Horsmanden and Susanna Beeching,
circa 1673; 2nd husband; d. 4 Dec 1704 at Virginia; bur. at Westover
Parish, Charles City Co., VA.
     He resided at London, England. He immigrated in 1670 to Virginia.
He and Mary Horsmanden resided at 'Westover', Charles City Co., VA.

     Mary Horsmanden was born circa 1652. She married Samuel Filmer;
1st husband. She died on 9 Nov 1699. She was buried at Westover
Parish, Charles City Co., VA.
     Known children of Col. William Byrd and Mary Horsmanden were as
follows:
     3.          i. Col. William Byrd, b. 10 Mar 1674 at 'Westover',
                    Charles City Co., VA; m. Lucy Parke; m. Maria
                    Taylor.
     4.         ii. Ursula Byrd, b. 29 Nov 1681; m. Robert Beverley
                    Jr.
               iii. Susan Byrd; m. John Brayne.
                    She resided at England.
                iv. Mary Byrd; m. James Duke.


                          Generation Three

3.  Col. William Byrd (William2, John1); b. Mar 1674 at 'Westover',
Charles City Co., VA; m. Lucy Parke, daughter of Col. Daniel Parke and
Jane Ludwell, 1706; 1st wife; m. Maria Taylor, daughter of Thomas
Taylor, 1725; 2nd wife; d. 26 Aug 1744 at 'Westover', Charles City
Co., VA, at age 70.
     He and Maria Taylor resided at 'Westover', Charles City Co., VA.
He was a diarist. He was a member of Council in 1708 at Virginia.

     Lucy Parke died in 1716.
     Known children of Col. William Byrd and Lucy Parke were as
follows:
                 i. Evelyn Byrd; b. 16 Jul 1707.
                ii. Parke Byrd; b. 6 Sep 1709 at 'Westover', Charles
                    City Co., VA; d. 3 Jun 1710 at 'Westover', Charles
                    City Co., VA; bur. 6 Jun 1710.

     Maria Taylor was born on 19 Nov 1698. She died on 20 Apr 1771 at
age 72.
     Known children of Col. William Byrd and Maria Taylor were as
follows:
     5.          i. Anne Byrd, b. 5 Feb 1725; m. Col. Charles Carter.
     6.         ii. Maria Byrd, b. 16 Jan 1727; m. Col. Landon Carter.
               iii. Jane Byrd; b. 13 Oct 1727; m. John Page, son of
                    Mann Page and Judith Carter, 1746; d. 1794.
     7.         iv. Col. William Byrd III, b. 6 Sep 1729; m. Elizabeth
                    Hill Carter; m. Mary Willing.

4.  Ursula Byrd (William2, John1); b. 29 Nov 1681; m. Robert Beverley
Jr., son of Maj. Robert Beverley and Mary; d. 31 Oct 1698 at age 16;
bur. at Jamestown, VA.

     Robert Beverley Jr was born circa 1673 at Middlesex Co., VA. He
was the Historian of Virginia. He was Clerk of the Council at
Virginia. He was Clerk of the General Assembly at Virginia. He was
Clerk of the General Court at Virginia. He died on 21 Apr 1722 at
'Beverley Park', King and Queen Co., VA.


                          Generation Four

5.  Anne Byrd (William3, William2, John1); b. 5 Feb 1725; m. Col.
Charles Carter, son of Robert Carter and Elizabeth Landon, 1742; 2nd
wife; d. 11 Sep 1757 at age 32.

     Col. Charles Carter was born in 1707 at 'Corotoman', Lancaster
Co., VA. He married Mary Walker, daughter of Joseph Walker, in 1728;
1st wife. He and Mary Walker resided at 'Cleve', King George Co., VA.
He was a member of the House of Burgesses between 1736 and 1764 at
King George Co., VA. He married Lucy Taliaferro in 1762; 3rd wife. He
died in 1764.

6.  Maria Byrd (William3, William2, John1); b. 16 Jan 1727; m. Col.
Landon Carter, son of Robert Carter and Elizabeth Landon, 1742; 2nd
wife; d. 29 Nov 1744 at age 17.
     She and Col. Landon Carter resided at 'Sabine Hall', Richmond Co., VA.

     Col. Landon Carter was born circa 1710 at 'Corotoman', Lancaster
Co., VA. He resided at 'Sabine Hall', Richmond Co., VA. He married
Elizabeth Wormeley, daughter of Hon. John Wormeley and Elizabeth, in
1732; 1st wife. He married Elizabeth Beale, daughter of Thomas Beale
and Elizabeth Tavener, in 1746; 3rd wife. He died on 10 Aug 1778 at
Virginia. He was buried at Old Churchyard, Warsaw, VA.

7.  Col. William Byrd III (William3, William2, John1); b. 6 Sep 1728
or 1729; m. Elizabeth Hill Carter, daughter of John Carter and
Elizabeth Hill, 14 Apr 1748; 1st wife; m. Mary Willing, daughter of
Charles Willing and Ann Shippen, 29 Jan 1761 at Philadelphia, PA; 2nd
wife; d. 1 Jan 1777 at age 47.
     He was a member of the House of Burgesses at Virginia. He was a
member of Council at Virginia. He was a Colonel in the 2nd Virginia
Regiment during the French and Indian War. He resided at 'Westover',
Charles City Co., VA.

     Elizabeth Hill Carter was born in 1731. She died in 1761.
     Known children of Col. William Byrd III and Elizabeth Hill Carter
include:
     8.          i. Thomas Taylor Byrd, b. 7 Jan 1752; m. Mary Anne
                    Armistead.

     Mary Willing was born on 10 Sep 1740 at Pennsylvania. She resided
at Philadelphia, PA. She died on 24 Mar 1814 at Virginia at age 73.


                          Generation Five

8.  Thomas Taylor Byrd (William4, William3, William2, John1); b. 7 Jan
1752; m. Mary Anne Armistead 1786; d. 1823.
     He resided at 'Cottage Farm', Clarke Co., VA.

     Mary Anne Armistead resided at 'Hesse', Gloucester Co., VA.
     Known children of Thomas Taylor Byrd and Mary Anne Armistead
include:
                 i. Maria Carter Byrd; m. Philip Norborne Nicholas,
                    son of Robert Carter Nicholas and Ann Cary, 1823;
                    2nd wife.
